Santana’s Birthday.
On July 20th, 2015 international musician and guitar star Carlos Santana held a memorable concert in Verona, in our Roman amphitheatre named Arena, in the heart of the old town. The evening was very hot: almost 38 degrees C and it was hard to resist sitting on the stone steps of the amphiteatre, but it was worth while. We really enjoyed the performance.
As a mere coincidence, Santana became 68 on that same day; he was born in Mexico in 1947. The organization offered him a birthday cake on the stage.
The concert was part of the “Corazon Tour“; Santana and his group played his famous greatest hits: from the earliest in 1970s to the latest ones. We audience stood and sung and danced along…
Of my few brief videos, I’ll share this one taken before dusk: you can appreciate the interior of the Arena. This amphitheatre dates back to 42-43 A.D.; it is known for hosting every summer the most important open-air Opera festival worldwide, thanks to its perfect acoustics.
In my last shot: not everybody could take part to this wonderful event so someone spent the hot summer night listening to whiffles of music in the air…

Way back when I was a concert goes the stages were pretty bare. You went to hear the music and see the musician or group. Now it’s a huge production. – Margy
