Cortina (part 1).

Cortina d’Ampezzo e’ una piccola cittadina di montagna collocata al centro delle Dolomiti venete ad un’altitudine di 1.124 metri s.l.m. Famosissima e frequentatissima, Cortina e’ diventata un luogo di turismo d’elite, grazie a hotel e resorts di lusso, negozi e boutiques dove i brands fanno arrivare le novita’ in esclusiva, vita serale/notturna, mostre d’arte ed eventi di vario genere.

Cortina ha ospitato le Olipiadi invernali nel 1956 e le ospitera’ assieme a Milano nuovamente nel 2026.

Le cose da vedere a Cortina, dopo le imponenti cime, sono: Corso Italia, la grande via dello shopping lunga 600 metri; i palazzi principali, come il municipio vecchio, costruiti nell’inconfondibile stile ladino, la Basilica minore dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo, risalente al 1769 – il campanile visibile da tutta la vallata e’ un elemento che contraddistingue Cortina nel mondo.

Cortina deve la sua reputazione certamente alle maestose montagne che la circondano e ai 120km di piste, che ne fanno un luogo ideale per gli sport invernali e il trekking estivo. Cortina e’ sinonimo di turismo e la sua popolazione aumenta a dismisura in alta stagione: dai 7000 residenti ai 40.000. Cortina d’Ampezzo is a small mountain town located in North Italy, in the Veneto region, in the center of the Dolomites at an altitude of 1,124 meters above sea level. Very famous and worldwide popular, Cortina has become a place of elite tourism, thanks to luxury hotels and resorts, shops and boutiques where the brands bring exclusive news, evening / night life, art exhibitions and events of various kinds.

Cortina hosted the Winter Olympics in 1956 and will host them together in Milan again in 2026.

The things to see in Cortina, after the imposing peaks, are: Corso Italia, the large shopping street 600 meters long; the main buildings, such as the old town hall, built in the unmistakable Ladin style, the minor Basilica of Santi Filippo and Giacomo, dating back to 1769 – the bell tower visible from the whole valley is an element that distinguishes Cortina in the world.

Cortina owns its reputation primarily to the imposing mountains which sourround it and to the large ski area, which make it an ideal location for winter and summer sports. Cortina today means tourism and its population increases dramatically in peak season: from 7,000 residents to 40,000.
