Una Gazza,  con il piumaggio talmente nero da essere perfino un po’ blu…

Una Merla,  che viene a razzolare anche nel mio giardino…

Un Gheppio,  che scruta il terreno in cerca di qualche movimento…

Non so chi e’, ma ha un bel riflesso nell’occhio…

Un Pettirosso,  immortalato nel canto…

Uno Stiaccino,  anche lui col suo bel petto arancione…

Un tipo dalla livrea gialla,  con la testina ostinatamente girata dall’altra parte…

Buongiorno, cari amici!  L’oggetto del post di oggi pero’ non sono gli uccelli,  ma proprio i fili della luce.  Le aziende che gestiscono la distribuzione dell’energia elettrica qui in Finlandia,  infatti,  stanno provvedendo ad interrare tutte le linee.  I lavori stanno procedendo gia’ da qualche anno.  Naturalmente non le linee maggiori,  quelle che viaggiano sui tralicci piu’ alti,  ma le linee secondarie,  quelle che arrivano di casa in casa e passano attraverso le foreste.  Questo per far fronte ai black-outs elettrici che da qualche tempo accadono piu’ spesso che in passato,  lasciando tante famiglie senza energia per ore o anche giorni.  La causa e’ indirettamente il cambiamento climatico,  che provoca fenomeni sempre piu’ forti:  temporali,  bufere di vento e pioggia… che provocano cadute di alberi sulle linee elettriche.  Fino a qualche anno fa,  infatti,  il tempo atmosferico non aveva manifestazioni cosi’ estreme qui al nord,  per cui la normale manutenzione delle linee e delle foreste era sufficiente.  Il governo ha inoltre stabilito che la popolazione che viene lasciata senza elettricita’ anche solo per poche ore,  ha diritto a forti risarcimenti.  La Finlandia corre ai ripari.

Conclusione:  lo spettacolo degli uccelli posati sui cavi elettrici sara’ sempre piu’ raro…

Perching on the Power Lines.

Hello,  dear readers!  Sorry:  the subject of this post are not the beautiful birds above,  but the power lines.  All electricity supplying companies operating in Finland decided to transfer aerial power lines to underground structures;  this has been going on for a few years,  now.  Of course not the bigger lines,  which travel on the high utility towers,  but the smaller ones,  which go to single houses through the forests.  What brought to this decision?  The climate change is the indirect cause,  as weather phenomena are nowadays more destructive than in the recent past;  strong winds,  blizzards and heavy rainfalls cause trees to fall upon the lines leaving the population without energy for hours or days.  As long as a few decades ago,  in fact,  weather was not so extreme here in the north and normal maintenance of both forests and power lines was enough to ensure the supply.  Moreover,  the government established high compensations for consumers left without power even only for a few hours.  Finland is trying to cope with the future.

We can assume that…the view of a nice bird perching on the aerial power line is becoming rarer and rarer.
