Un’usanza finlandese ampiamente praticata dagli amanti dei giardini e del verde, consiste nel portare in casa alcuni rametti di betulla per farli germogliare anzitempo al calduccio: in un paio di settimane i rametti apriranno le loro gemme e spunteranno le foglioline. Un angolo verde autentico mentre fuori si sta ancora sciogliendo l’ultima neve… Di solito si fa a fine Marzo.
Longing for some green.
In spring, Finnish people who love garden and green, can carry in a few branches of birch to force the opening of the small leaves in the warmth of the home. To us it took about two weeks, last year, but we enjoyed a green corner while outside the last snow was still melting…it was the end of March when we cut them.
