A primavera nei cieli del nord e’ tutto un alzar la testa per ammirare stormi di uccelli delle specie piu’ varie che volano in formazione di ritorno dai posti caldi in cui hanno svernato e, se ci si trova nel punto giusto all’orario giusto, li vedi pure atterrare.
Questi sono solo alcuni che ho gia’ visto e riconosciuto : qui sotto lo Zigolo giallo, Keltasirkku, in giardino, tra i rami ancora spogli dei nostri rosai…
Il Pettirosso, Punarinta, anche lui appena arrivato…forse da Garda?
Il Fringuello, Peippo, un instancabile canterino…
La Peppola, Järripeippo, di cui purtroppo non ho una foto molto chiara perche’ si e’ fermato per troppo poco tempo…
Il piccolissimo Lucherino, Vihervarpunen, si rinfranca con le nostre arachidi dopo il lungo viaggio…
Il Colombaccio, Sepelkyyhky, piu’ grande dei comuni piccioni e pure migratore…
Un gruppetto di Cigni canori, Laulujoutsen, cosi’ rumorosi…
Le Gru, Kurki , grandi, imponenti e cosi’ eleganti.
Una riflessione che faccio sempre vedendo le enormi distanze coperte da questi animali, non solo le grandi gru e i cigni, ma anche e soprattutto i piccoli pettirossi e fringuelli: mi viene da pensare a quale grande miracolo sia la Natura!

They’re back!
Here in the north in spring it is time to raise your head and look up to admire flocks of numerous different species of birds returning after winter. They fly in organized squads and sometimes cry aloud; if you are in the correst place at the correct time, you can even see them land. Here are a few that I spotted here and there:
1) The Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) in our garden, among the rose branches…
2) The Robin (Erithacus rubercula) just back…maybe from Garda?
3) The Common Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) with its musical voice…
4) The Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla), who stopped too shortly to take a good photo…
5) The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus), such a small bird. He is eating our nuts after his long journey…
6) The Common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus), wild and bigger than city pigeons and a migrator…
7) Some Whooper swans (Cygnus cygnus), so noisily cheerful…
8) Some Cranes (Grus grus), massive but so smart and gracious.
If you allow me one thought: I always wonder about the miracles of Nature, whenever I watch these birds travel all that long way twice per year; not so much the big cranes or swans but above all the tiny robins and chaffinches!

I never succeed to see cranes at a short distance, only hear their loud noise above the clouds. The wood pigeons have returned to my garden, one day there were four of them. So lovely!
