Il primo gennaio di quest’anno abbiamo avuto due minuti di aurora boreale.  Due soli minuti,  purtroppo,  perche’ poi il cielo si e’ rannuvolato;   ho fatto alcuni scatti frettolosi,  che vi propongo.

Questa volta il fenomeno ha avuto due caratteristiche:  1) l’aurora era rossa;  i colori che sciorina dipendono dalla sua intensita’ e dagli strati di atmosfera terrestre convolti.

2)  Era alta sopra le nostre teste,  quindi non a livello dell’orizzonte e nemmeno a 45gradi,  per cui piu’ difficile da fotografare.

Red Aurora.

This year,  on January 1st,  we had two minutes of Northern Lights (Aurora borealis).  Only two minutes,  unfortunately,  because then the sky clouded over;  I took some hasty shots,  which I am sharing with you.

This time the phenomenon had two characteristics:  1) it was red;  the colors it displays depend on its intensity and the layers of the Earth’s atmosphere involved.

2)  It was high above our heads;  so not at horizon level and not even at 45 degrees,   therefore more difficult to photograph.
