Oggi la Chiesa cattolica celebra il Venerdi’ Santo,  il giorno della crocifissione di Gesu’.  In Italia pero’ e’ un qualsiasi giorno lavorativo,  pur con le celebrazioni religiose che si tengono nel pomeriggio/sera.

In Finlandia invece il Pitkäperjantai,  cioe’ il “Venerdi’ lungo”,  cosi’ chiamato per la durata infinita della passione di Gesu’,  e’ giornata festiva e le attivita’ lavorative si fermano.  Oggigiorno i negozi sono per lo piu’ aperti,  ma e’ bene informarsi prima se gli esercizi che ci interessano lo siano o meno,  per non avere sorprese.

La religione piu’ seguita in Finlandia e’ la Evangelica Luterana,  cui aderisce oltre il 60% della popolazione.  A seguire vengono:  la religione Ortodossa  (1%),  professata par lo piu’ da immigrati russi e l’Islam (1%),  introdotto a inizio ‘900 dalle migrazioni Tatare e professato oggi anche dalla comunita’ creatasi a seguito delle migrazioni dal nord Africa e dai Paesi arabi.

Essendo la liberta’ di culto uno dei punti forti della Costituzione finlandese,  esistono nel Paese molte altre congregazioni religiose il cui seguito e’ minoritario,  inclusa la Chiesa cattolica Romana.   La Finlandia e’ essenzialmente uno stato secolare e l’autorita’ religiosa non ha influenza sul governo.  In realta’ gli agnostici rappresentano il 22% del campione.

I bimbi hanno diritto all’istruzione religiosa nelle scuole e la loro religione viene decisa dai genitori,  ma al compimento del diciottesimo anno di eta’ hanno la possibilita’ di scegliere il proprio credo o di non seguine alcuno.

Today the Catholic Church celebrates Good Friday,  the day of Jesus’ crucifixion.  In Italy,  however,  it is an ordinary working day,  although a few religious celebrations are held in the afternoon/evening. 

In Finland instead Pitkäperjantai,  i.e. “Long Friday”,  so called due to the infinite duration of Jesus’ passion,  is a public holiday and work activities stop.  Nowadays shops are mostly open,  but it’s a good idea to find out beforehand whether the businesses you’re interested in are open or not,  so as not to have any surprises.

The most followed religion in Finland is the Evangelical Lutheran Church,  to which over 60% of the population adheres.  Following are:  the Orthodox Church (1%),  mostly professed by Russian immigrants and Islam (1%), introduced at the beginning of the 20th century by the Tatar migrations and professed today also by the community created after the migrations from North Africa and Arab countries. 

Since freedom of worship is one of the strong points of the Finnish Constitution,  there are many other religious congregations in the country who are followed by a minority of people,  including the Roman Catholic Church,  Hebraism and Induism.  Finland is essentially a secular state and the religious authority has no influence on the government.  Actually agnostics represent 22% of the sample.

Children have the right to religious education in schools and their religion is decided by their parents,  but upon reaching the age of eighteen they have the possibility to choose their own beliefs or not to follow any.

  12. Für die Evangelische Kirche ist Karfreitag der höchste Feiertag.
    Wir haben als Protestanten zeitweilig in der Nähe vom Katholischen Aachen gewohnt.
    Dort wurde am Karfreitag geputzt und Wäsche gewaschen etc.
    Das hat uns damals sehr verletzt.
