Tra Italia e Finlandia

(Please scroll down for English text)Un mese nelle mie foto.

Giugno e’ stato proprio bello in Finlandia:  a parte qualche sparuto acquazzone,  ci ha regalato bel tempo stabile,  sole e temperature che hanno raggiunto i 30C.  La Finlandia,  piu’ ancora degli altri stati Scandinavi a causa della sua posizione geografica,  e’ proprio il Paese in cui si puo’ trovare la piu’ ampia escursione termica:  dai -30 invernali ai 30 di adesso:  60 gradi di differenza!

Adesso,  dopo Midsummer,  la gran parte degli uccelli ha gia’ i piccoli e non si sentono piu’ cantare come a primavera.  Ma la sera tardi c’e’ ancora qualche usignolo che ci tiene compagnia quando sediamo nella frescura in giardino dopo cena.

A dire il vero,  io ho trascorso parte di questo mese in Italia,  con la parte italiana della mia famiglia:  in particolare con la mia dolce mamma,  che ha festeggiato un compleanno importante.  Non potevo mancare,  anche perche’ sono la sua unica figlia.

Cosi’ ho ricominciato a viaggiare  – con molto gusto e anche molti test – e  rigorosamente indossando sempre la mascherina FFP2.

Al rientro in Finlandia ho fatto una lunga coda al rigoroso controllo passaporti.  Benissimo:  trovo che un buon filtro alle frontiere aiuti a monitorare la diffusione del virus.

In Italia e’ scoppiato il grande caldone estivo,  purtroppo coronato dalla presenza delle temibili zanzare tigre,  che a me personalmente non lasciano scampo.  Un vero peccato che la bella stagione abbia questi risvolti…

Adesso nel nord Europa il giorno dura veramente 24 ore!  Adesso andiamo a letto tardi e dormiamo pochissime ore,  ma ci si sente ugualmente energetici,  proprio il contrario dell’inverno,  quando la voglia di letargo ci assale.  Bello pero’ che ci sia l’alternanza delle stagioni.

Con questa cosa del sole anche di notte e del caldo,  tutta la vegetazione sta esprimendo il suo piu’ ricco rigoglio:  quasi si puo’ sentire l’erba crescere nei giardini!  E cosi’ pure l’insalata negli orti per fortuna…eheh!  😉

La situazione covid e’ in netto miglioramento in tutta Europa.  I dati in Finlandia al momento riportano:  22.8 casi per 100.000 abitanti;  i deceduti totali dal marzo 2020 sono:  969.  Mentre il 57.7% della popolazione ha ricevuto almeno la prima dose di vaccino.

Nota di costume:  per la prima volta nella sua storia,  la Finlandia si e’ qualificata per partecipare ai Campionati Europei di calcio.  Ha anche vinto una partita,  ma poi e’ stata eliminata.  Non ci ha stupito,  qui il calcio e’ praticato pochissimo:  lo sport nazionale e’ l’Hockey su ghiaccio,  seguito dallo sci da fondo.

Peccato che i tifosi andati a vedere la partita Belgio-Finlandia a San Pietroburgo abbiano portato in patria un centinaio di casi di variante delta del covid.  Un modesto focolaio che si sta allargando.  La prova provata che gli irresponsabili ci sono anche qui (irresponsabili non perche’ siano andati a vedere la partita,  ma perche’ alcuni non si sono quarantenati e/o testati al ritorno in patria).

La mia lettura del mese (anzi di un pomeriggio,  trattandosi di un piccolo libriccino) e’ stata ancora una volta un capolavoro della letteratura giapponese:  “L’anulare”  della scrittrice Yoko Ogawa,  che consiglio ai feticisti. 😉

Nota di natura:  come Souvenir d’Italie mi sono portata alcune foto dell’Upupa,  colorato e particolare uccellino visto nelle campagne veronesi.  Gli dedichero’ un post “monografico” piu’ avanti.Come sempre ringrazio tutti coloro che mi leggono e do’ il benvenuto ai nuovi followers!

A Month in my Photos.

June was really nice in Finland:  apart from a few scattered showers,  it gave us good stable weather,  sun and temperatures up to 30C!  Finland,  even more than the other Scandinavian countries due to its geographical position,  is precisely the country where you can find the widest temperature range:  from -30C in winter to 30C now:  60 degrees different!  (86 degrees F)

Now,  after Midsummer,  most birds have their new born to grow,  so they do not sing anymore as in spring.  In the evening,  though,  still the nightingale sings beautifully when we sit in the garden freshness after dinner.

To tell the truth,  I spent part of this month in Italy,  with the Italian part of my family:  in particular with my sweet mother,  who celebrated an important birthday.  I couldn’t miss it,  also because I am her only daughter.

So I started traveling again – with enthusiasm but also with many tests – always wearing the FFP2 mask.  Upon returning to Finland I had to queue at the strict passport control.  Well done:  I find that a good border filter helps monitor the spread of the virus.

In Italy the suffocating summer heat has burst out,  unfortunately accompanied by the presence of the fearful “tiger mosquitoes”,  which willingly sting me.  A real shame that the summer has these implications …

Now in the north of the world the day really lasts 24 hours!  Now we go to bed late and sleep for a few hours,  but we feel equally energetic,  just the opposite of winter,  when the temptation to winter-sleep is so strong.  But nice that there is the alternation of the seasons.

With this thing of the sun even at night and the heat,  all the vegetation is in its richest luxuriance:  you can almost hear the grass growing in the gardens!  And luckily the salad in the vegetable gardens too …he he!  🙂

The virus situation has been improving all over Europe.  In Finland the latest report reads 22.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.   Total dead people since March 2020:  969.  Percentage of vaccinated people at least with one dose:  57.7%.

Sports news:  For the first time in its history,  Finland had qualified to participate in the European Football Championship.  They even won a game,  but then they were eliminated.  It did not surprise us,  football is practiced very little here:  the national sport is ice hockey,  followed by cross-country skiing.

Too bad that the supporters who went to see the Belgium-Finland match in St. Petersburg have brought home a hundred cases of delta variant of the covid.  It is a small cluster but it is slowly getting larger.  Proof that some people are too careless here too (some of them did not observe quarantine and/or test rules after coming from abroad).

My monthly reading (actually it was an afternoon’s reading as it is a small book) was again a Japanese masterpiece:  “The Ringfinger” by Yoko Ogawa.  Recommended to feticists.  😉

Nature note:  as a Souvenir d’Italie I brought some photos of the Hoopoe,  a colorful and particular bird seen in the Veronese countryside.  I will dedicate a “monographic” post to him later on.
