Un mese nelle mie foto:

Anche ottobre e’ iniziato col botto:  discesa di venti freddi da nord e gelate notturne,  con temperature pomeridiane attorno ai 3 gradi.  Poi pero’ il vento ha preso a spirare da sud e allora siamo tornati su valori normali:  10-12 gradi pomeridiani.

Noi abbiamo completato gli ultimi lavori nell’orto:  cavato le patate dalla terra e riposte in cantina.  Siamo anche andati a funghi piu’ volte e abbiamo goduto gli ultimissimi finferli e porcini;  la mattina alcuni erano congelati come appena usciti dal freezer.

Una curiosita’:  le scuole sono iniziate a meta’ agosto,  qui nel sud Finlandia,  pero’ a meta’ ottobre gli studenti hanno gia’ goduto la prima settimana di vacanza;  le prossime vacanze saranno a Natale a Febbraio e a Pasqua.

In Italia invece questo ottobre e’ stato molto mite,  pur con qualche pioggia.

A month in my photos.

October started with a rush of cold:  wind from the north brought frosty nights and daily temperatures close to 0 C (32F).  Later on the situation improved and we had more seasonal temperatures:  10-12 C  (52F),  with winds from the Atlantic.

Risto and I have made up the last autumnal duties in the vegetable yard:  dug out our potatoes and placed them into the cellar.  We also enjoyed the last chanterelles and porcini mushrooms.

A fun fact:  schools started last mid-August here in south Finland,  but students have already had their first week’s holidays in mid-October;  next stops will be at Christmas,  in February and at Easter.

In Italy October was still a mild month,  although with some rain. 

I will share with you an article taken from an online review,  illustrating an art exibition of Italian artists in Finland.  The article is in Italian,  but pictures will speak.  The exibition takes place at the Serlachius Museum in Mänttä,  north of Tampere and its title is:  The Quest for Happiness – Italian Art Now.  It is inspired by the consequences of the 2008 economical crisis in Europe.

  1. Ormai il tuo “resoconto fotografico” è diventato per me un appuntamento fisso di fine mese 😉 La tua foto che più mi è piaciuta è sicuramente quella dei funghi “a cappello”. Pensa che, qualche giorno dopo aver letto il tuo post, ho trovato dei funghetti simili nel mio giardino e mi sei subito venuta in mente! Ciao Luisella!

  12. Fall comes every year and with it gorgeous colours on the trees and a plethora of vegetables. This is the time of year when we start to make soups and can them, so that we have lots of wonderful home made soups to enjoy after crisp winter walks.
