La festa di San Valentino in Finlandia è senz’altro una festa importata,  come Halloween ed è per lo più conosciuta come la “Giornata dell’amicizia”:  “Ystävänpäivä”.

Tuttavia nei negozi si trovano certamente molti gadgets per festeggiare a vari livelli:  dalle cartoline augurali,  che qui sono sempre di moda,  ad altri regali da fare o da condividere,  come questi nelle mie foto.  La cioccolata,  per esempio,  e’ sempre gradita,  dagli amici o dal partner…

Anche sul mercato finlandese si trovano le idee piu’ bizzarre:  si possono comprare persino fragole fuori stagione con tanto di confezione a forma di cuore (questa scelta non mi trova d’accordo).

Per un festeggiamento casalingo,  invece,  cubetti di ghiaccio a forma di cuoricini…

Vi lascio ai festeggiamenti con una canzone pop – e un po’ funky – dei primi anni ’90:  Change di Lisa Stansfield. 

Un verso significativo: “If I could change the way  I live my life today /  I would’t change a single thing /  ‘cause if I changed my world into another place I wouldn’t see your smiling face”.

Cioe’:  “Anche se potessi cambiare la mia vita oggi /  non cambierei proprio nulla /  perche’ se lo facessi, /  potrei non vedere piu’ il tuo viso sorridente”.  Bello,  vero??

Valentine’s Day is a celebration which has been imported to Finland,  as well as Halloween and it is mostly  “Friends’ Day”:  “Ystävänpäivä“,  rather than strictly “Lovers’ day“,  as we understand it in Italy. 

You can anyway find a lot of gadgets to celebrate as you prefer and presents to give or share:  for instance delicious chocolate lollipops or imported strawberries in a heart-shaped box (which wouldn’t be my choice).  For a more homemade celebration:  heart-shaped ice cubes in your drinks! 

I’ll end this post with a lovely song from the early 1990’s:  Lisa Stansfield’s Change.  The music is pop with a touch of funky,  but the text is so romantic: 

“If I could change the way  I live my life today /  I would’t change a single thing /  ‘cause if I changed my world into another place / I wouldn’t see your smiling face”.
