Tra Italia e Finlandia

Qualche tempo fa,  l’ambrata e notissima bevanda americana ha lanciato una campagna pubblicitaria che prevedeva l’inserimento in etichetta di vari nomi di localita’ turistiche di tutto il mondo.  Naturalmente c’erano anche localita’ italiane e finlandesi;  io ne ho fotografate un po’ in giro. 

Ad esempio qui sopra si vede:  Gardajärvi – il lago di Garda – se qualche finnico ancora non lo conoscesse… In realta’ il territorio del Garda e’ ben frequentato dai turisti finlandesi:  in particolare le localita’ di Garda,  Malcesine e Riva;  sin dagli anni ’60 operano regolarmente voli charter estivi da Helsinki a Verona.

Senigallia e’ una splendida cittadina della regione Marche,  molto vivace e ricca di eventi e di storia,  si affaccia sul mare Adriatico ed ha un lungo arenile chiamato:  “Spiaggia di velluto” (ne ho parlato QUI).  Mentre la Calabria e’ una regione del sud,  proprio al termine della nostra penisola,  che si protende fra il mar Ionio e il Tirreno e vanta localita’ come Diamante,  nonche’ una ricca tradizione gastronomica.

Ed ora veniamo alle localita’ finlandesi:  Helsinki,  la capitale,  di cui potete leggere anche QUI e QUI.

Kalajoki – nome che significa:  fiume pescoso – e’ una cittadina sulla costa ovest del Paese affacciata sul Golfo di Botnia caratterizzata da una lunga spiaggia  dove i finlandesi vanno a fare il bagno in estate,  eccome,  specialmente nelle estati calde come e’ stata la scorsa!

Di Naantali abbiamo gia’ parlato un poco QUI:  e’ una splendida cittadina di mare. 

Mentre Ruka e’ un grande comprensorio sciistico nel centro-nord Finlandia dove in inverno si praticano lo sci da fondo,  lo sci alpino (anche in notturna su piste illuminate) e un sacco di altre attivita’ come snowboard,  percorsi in slitta trainata dai cani e persino passeggiate in slitta trainata da renne;  mentre in estate si fanno trekking a vari livelli ma anche altri sports come la canoa,  il rafting,  la mountain bike;  Ruka prende il nome dal monte Rukatunturi,  alto appena 500 mt circa,  ma data la latitudine,  l’innevamento e’ assicurato.

Infine… il dolce mare della Costa Azzurra.

Reviewing your Geography.      

Last year,  the famous and celebrated American beverage promoted a peculiar campaign:  they labelled their stylish bottles with names of well-known tourist places from around the world.  In my photos a few examples,  shot here and there. 

Let’s start with Gardajärvi – Finnish for lake Garda – which is already well frequented by Finnish tourists,  especially the towns of Garda,  Malcesine and Riva;  as a matter of fact,  regular summer charter flights have been operating between Helsinki and Verona since the 1960’s .

Then comes Senigallia,  a pleasant holiday town in the Le Marche region,  in central Italy,  overlooking the Adriatic sea.  Senigallia boasts a long history and nowadays many colourful events take place there.  I have told something about it HERE.  Senigallia is famous also for its long sandy beach named “The velvet beach”.

Calabria is a region located in the very south of the Italian peninsula,  stretched out between the Ionian sea and the Tyrrenian sea;  it boasts warm climate and many picturesque coastal towns (eg.:  Diamante)  rich in history and architecture;  last but not least a varied culinary tradition.

Let’s come to a few Finnish names:  Helsinki,  the capital.  You can read something about it HERE  and  HERE.

Kalajoki,  which means “Fishing river” is instead a coastal town located on the Gulf of Bothnia in the western part of Finland,  featuring a long beach where Finns go bathing in summer,  especially if the weather is warm as last summer’s was.

I told you about Ruka  HERE:

Ruka is the name of a large ski resort quite in the north of Finland where you can go alpine skiing as well as cross-country or snowboarding (even night skiing on illuminated slopes),  but many other fun winter activities are also possible:  from husky safaris to  reindeer sledge rides.  In summer Ruka is a place for outdoor and nature life:  trekking,  hiking,  canoeing,  rafting,  mountain biking…all your favourite sports are possible.  Ruka takes its name from the Rukatunturi fell,  just as high as about 500 metres,  but given the latitude,  the snow season lasts there over 200 days per year.

Finally,  the sweet seaside of the French Riviera.
