Bring the Sunflower to me.
Today three reblogs, mainly for my Italian and Finnish friends. The first is taken from the webpage La Rondine: an anthology of works of the Italian poet (Nobel Prize awarded) Eugenio Montale has just been translated and published in Finland. Its title is: “Tuo minulle auringonkukka”, roughly: “Bring me the sunflower”; translated by Hannimari Heino and published by Parkko.

In my photos: a sunflower in a maize field and a panorama of the Ligurian town Monterosso al Mare – one of the famous Cinque Terre – where the poet’s family spent summer holidays.

The second reblog is to inform that a book about Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and his stay and work in Italy together with wife Aino has been recently released for the Italian book market. The title is: “Aino e Alvar Aalto. Risonanze italiane”, written by Antonello Alici and published by Caracol.
Here’s the link: cultfinlandia.it/viaggio-al-nord-sulle-orme-di-alvar-aalto/
In the second shot: The bizarre volumes of Aalto’s Three Crosses Church, located near Imatra, in southeast Finland, as I saw it in November 2011.

The third reblog is an information for my Italian readers who are fond of architecture: In Milano next Thursday Jan 24th, a talk with a group of Finnish architects will take place; they will discuss projects about buildings newly built in Helsinki: for instance the big library Oodi. Anyway your blogger will soon unfold the beauty of Oodi for you in a dedicated post.

And here’s Oodi, the huge library just opened in the heart of Helsinki: in my last shot.

Thank you for Montale tip! I don’t know the expression in Englis, but say it in Finnish: Minä pääsin ripille Kolmen ristin kirkossa. So, that church is very familiar to me.
