In Finlandia un soggetto molto popolare per le cartoline natalizie sono i Ciuffolotti,  gli uccellini dall’inconfondibile petto arancione che sono stanziali e vengono a visitare i nostri giardini nella stagione invernale.  Li avete gia’ conosciuti nel mio post:  Ciuffolotti.

Non solo sulle cartoline,  ma anche sui francobolli e’ possibile trovarli:puna (5)

Come detto in post precedenti,  in Finlandia ci si spediscono ancora cartoline augurali a Natale,  Pasqua,  San Valentino,  per i compleanni piu’ importanti oppure in occasione di eventi eccezionali come il pensionamento.  In effetti,  non c’e’ paragone con una vignetta sul telefonino.

Concludo questo post ricordando che domani 6 dicembre la Finlandia festeggia l’Indipendenza,  ottenuta nel 1917 e riconquistata a prezzo di migliaia di morti nel 1944,  dopo l’invasione sovietica.  Quest’anno questa festa assume un significato particolare.  A me non resta che dire,  anzi gridare:  “Onnea,  Suomi!”IMG_4838

Subjects for Postcards.

Bullfinches are a very popular subject for Christmas cards in Finland.  They are lovely birds with an unmistakable orange breast that are sedentary and come to visit our gardens in the winter season.

You already met them in my post:  Bullfinches.

We can find them on stamps too.

As mentioned in previous posts,  in Finland greeting cards are still sent for Christmas,  Easter,  Valentine’s Day,  for important birthdays or extraordinary events such as retirement.  In fact,  there is no comparison with a message on a mobile phone.

I would like to recall that tomorrow 6th December Finland will celebrate its Independence,  stated in 1917 and reconquered at the cost of thousands of fallen in 1944,  after the Soviet invasion.  This year this celebration takes on a particular meaning.  All I have to do is say,  actually shout: “Onnea, Suomi!”

  21. Pretty cards and pretty stamps! Me too, I am writing Christmas cards and it always gives me headaches, when to send them, as there are two different postal organizations needed to transport and deliver them – Post Canada and Deutsche Bundespost. And yes, I can very much understand that this year‘s independance day will have a very different feeling!

  30. Cara Luisella, ti auguro di trascorrere questa vostra festa piacevolmente ( forse San Nicola anticipa qualche regalo,anche?!) E’ proprio una bella cosa che lì sia ancora viva la tradizione di scambiarsi gli auguri per posta, è sempre una gradita sorpresa trovare nella cassetta delle lettere biglietti d’auguri da conservare col cuore.Io mando ancora qualche biglietto, e uno o due li ricevo, pure!

  41. I don´t celebrate X-mas per se. Every year I get a X-mas card from my dad. And do eat jouluateria with my mom. But that´s it. No hassle with X-mas what so ever.

    Your X-mas cards makes me feel lil nostalgic for childhood X-mas(es). 🎅

  46. Onnea, Suomi ! ( 2 days late, sorry) . Moto bene. ( My daughter married a Finlnd man, I speak English in Australia. I write bilingual English/ French vignettes because I am of French origin, and I studies some Italian so I can ( just) follow your Italian! Cheers
