Buongiorno lettori,  oggi vi propongo una poesia.  Si tratta di una lirica breve del drammaturgo tedesco  Bertolt Brecht,  scritta nel 1953.  Si intitola:  Der Rauch,  cioe:  Il fumo.

Der Rauch

Das kleine Haus unter Bäumen am See.
Vom Dach steigt Rauch.
Fehlte er
Wie trostlos dann wären
Haus, Bäume und See.

Il Fumo

Una piccola casa tra gli alberi presso il lago.

Del fumo si alza dal tetto.

Se non ci fosse

Quanta desolazione

Nella casa, tra gli alberi e il lago.

Oltre alprimo livello di lettura,  quello lirico e paesaggistico,  Brecht ci invita a riflettere sul fumo che fuoriesce dal camino della casa come segno di vita,  di vitalita’,  di presenza,  di anima,  di calore che forse genera accoglienza e condivisione.

Dear readers,  today I want to share with you a short poem written by German author Bertholt Brecht in 1953.  Its title is:  Der Rauch,  that is:  The Smoke.

Der Rauch

Das kleine Haus unter Bäumen am See.
Vom Dach steigt Rauch.
Fehlte er
Wie trostlos dann wären
Haus, Bäume und See.

The Smoke

The little house under the trees by the lake.
Smoke rises from the roof.
If it was missing
How desolate would be
The house,  trees and lake.

The poet does not refer just to the mere landscape view,  even though that is a fundamental aspect of the lyric.  He invites us to ponder about the meaning of the smoke coming out of the chimney as a symbol of life,  vitality,  presence,  soul,  warmth which can mean also community and sharing.
