Tra Italia e Finlandia

Un mese nelle mie foto.

Dalla fine di agosto,  l’autunno ci è piombato addosso improvvisamente.  Eravamo lì a goderci le ultime giornate calde e…bum!  Il giorno dopo la temperatura era già scesa,  le prime foglie gialle volteggiavano tormentate dal vento e tutti abbiamo pensato che era ora di portar dentro un po’ di legna per il camino.

Così,  leggermente in ritardo,  siamo entrati nella terza stagione di quest’anno.  Le giornate sono ancora piuttosto lunghe,  ma certo la differenza con agosto si vede:  dopo l’Equinozio e’ ancora più evidente.  Il panorama e’ adesso tutto colorato:  il foliage infatti sta dipingendo di oro,  ruggine,  rosso vivo sia boschi che giardini.  Gli uccelli migratori sono partiti quasi tutti.

A inizio mese il sole ha fatto esplodere parti della propria corona provocando qualche Aurora boreale piuttosto potente,  ma io mi sono persa anche queste,  poichè eravamo in Italia.

Anche in Italia l’autunno ci e’ piombato addosso all’improvviso:  eravamo li’ a bearci dei nostri 28 gradi senza piu’ sudare e…bum!  Il giorno dopo sono arrivati temporali,  abbassamento delle temperature,  piogge torrenziali,  distruzione,  persino vittime.

Settembre e’ comunque il mese migliore per fare turismo in Italia:  non esito a consigliare tutti voi amici di blog di considerare l’idea di visitare il mio Paese proprio in settembre,  quando il caldo non e’ piu’ afoso e l’affollamento non piu’ pressante.  Noi ne abbiamo approfittato per un giretto in Toscana,  una regione che ha moltissimo da offrire,  non solo in termini di cibo e vini,  di storia e arte,  ma anche semplicemente di panorami mozzafiato.  Abbiamo anche conosciuto nuova gente simpatica,  che ringrazio per la compagnia.

La situazione covid e’ buona,  sia in Italia che in Finlandia;  qui non c’e’ al momento nessun ricoverato negli ospedali e tantomeno nelle terapie intensive.  Sul giornale ho trovato un articolo interessante che parlava di come “vivono” e si propagano i virus della famiglia Sars,  a cui appartiene il covid:  da quello che e’ emerso dagli studi piu’ recenti,  sembra che questi virus non sopravvivano tanto sulle superfici,  quanto nell’aria.  Va da se’ che lavarsi ed igienizzarsi le mani e’ una buona abitudine,  ma se vogliamo davvero cautelarci,  dobbiamo fare attenzione al respiro e alle microparticelle di saliva in dispersione nell’aria.  Questo naturalmente vale anche per evitare il piu’ possibile l’influenza stagionale.

La novita’ del momento e’ il signor Putin,  che ha alzato cosi’ tanto il livello dello scontro.  Si e’ tolto la maschera di fredda cortesia che aveva tenuto per anni e ha puntato un ditone carico di testate nucleari contro di noi tutti,  rei di voler cancellare la Russia,  nientemeno.  Sembra proprio che bisogna credergli quando dice che tutti i suoi obbiettivi verranno raggiunti con qualsiasi mezzo.

La Finlandia ha chiuso l’ingresso ai cittadini russi anche per ragioni di sicurezza,  o meglio:  valuta seriamente ogni caso.  Ad esempio se si tratta di studenti che frequentano l’universita’ a Helsinki e’ chiaro che possono venire.  La Finlandia sta anche pensando di costruire un bel muro per proteggersi in corrispondenza dei punti di confine aperti (cosa impensabile fino all’anno scorso!!)  Ricordo a tutti che la Finlandia condivide ben 1340km di confine con la Russia,  ma per fortuna per la maggior parte in zone paludose,  o vi scorrono fiumi o ancora vi si trovano foreste cosi’ fitte che e’ ben difficile attraversare;  per cui il muro verrebbe lungo solo 230km.

Chiudo con una nota davvero triste.  Riitta,  amica di blog finlandese,  titolare del blog “Floral Passions”,  ci ha lasciato recentemente.  Il mondo dei blog ha perso una protagonista sensibile,  attenta,  una persona di gusto e soprattutto gentile.

A Month in my Photos.

Since the end of August,  autumn has come upon us suddenly.  We were there enjoying the last warm days and… boom!  The next day temperatures had already dropped,  the first yellow leaves were circling tormented by the wind and we all thought it was time to bring in some wood for the fireplace.

So,  slightly late,  we entered the third season of this year.  Days are still quite long,  but you can certainly see the difference with August:  after the Equinox it is even more evident.  The landscape is now beautifully colored:  the foliage is in fact painting both woodlands and gardens with gold,  rust,  bright red.  Almost all migratory birds have left.

At the beginning of the month the sun blew out parts of its crown causing some rather powerful Northern Lights,  but I missed these too,  as we were in Italy.

Even in Italy,  autumn fell upon us all of a sudden:  we were there just basking in our 28 degrees C without sweating anymore and… boom!  The next day,  thunderstorms,  lower temperatures,  torrential rains,  destruction,  even victims arrived.

However,  September is the best month for tourism in Italy:  I have no hesitation in recommending all of you blog friends to consider visiting my country in September,  when the heat is no longer muggy and crowds of tourists no more pressing.  We took the opportunity for a trip to Tuscany,  a region that has a lot to offer,  not only in terms of food and wines,  history and art,  but also simply breathtaking views.  We also met new nice people,  whom I thank for the company.

The covid situation is good,  both in Italy and in Finland;  there is currently nobody in the hospital here,  not even in intensive care.  In the newspaper I found an interesting article that talked about how the viruses of the Sars family,  to which the covid belongs,  “live” and spread:  from what has emerged from the most recent studies,  it seems that these viruses do not survive for long on surfaces,  but mostly in the air.  It goes without saying that washing and sanitizing our hands is a good habit,  but if we really want to take care,  we must pay attention to the breath and the microparticles of saliva dispersed in the air.  This of course also applies to avoiding seasonal flu as much as possible.

The news of the moment is Mr. Putin,  who has raised the level of confrontation so much higher.  He took off the mask of cold courtesy he had kept for years and pointed a big finger loaded with nuclear warheads at all of us,  guilty of wanting to wipe out Russia out, no less.  It seems that you have to believe him when he says that all his goals will be achieved by any means.

Finland has closed entry to Russian citizens also for security reasons,  or at least will evaluate each case seriously.  For example,  if they are students attending a university in Helsinki,  it is clear that they can come.  Finland is also thinking about building a fence to protect itself at the open border points (something unthinkable until last year!!)  I remind everyone that Finland shares 1340km of border with Russia,  but fortunately for the most part in swampy areas,  either rivers flow there or there are such thick forests that it is very difficult to cross;  so the wall would be only 230km long.

I will close on a really sad note.  Riitta,  a Finnish blog-pal,  owner of the blog “Floral Passions”,  has recently left us.  The blogsphere  has lost a sensitive,  attentive protagonist,  a person of taste and above all kind.
