Come nelle favole.

Talvolta e’ capitato che gli amici italiani mi abbiano detto:  “Tu vivi in mezzo alla natura,  in un posto da favola…”

E come nelle favole,  infatti,  non puo’ mancare il lupo.

Viva il lupo!  Specialmente quando si lascia fotografare cosi’ in tranquillita’ in una sera di primavera.

Abbiamo avvistato questo esemplare lungo la strada che da Somero porta a Tammela,  vicino all’incrocio con la statale numero 2,  il giorno 16 maggio 2021 alle 22.00.  Era lontano dall’abitato e si era appena infilato in un piccolo canale di scolo,  di quelli che si trovano ovunque (campi o foreste) realizzati apposta per lasciar fluire le acque.  Risto e’ rimasto in auto e io sono scesa a fare due scatti.  La bestiola mi ha guardato dignitosamente,  ma non si e’ mossa:  per fortuna non e’ scappato.

La presenza del lupo, come quella di tutti i predatori,  e’ necessaria in natura,  in quanto tiene sotto controllo il numero di cervi e caprioli,  gia’ consistente dalle nostre parti.  Il lupo non attacca l’uomo,  a meno che l’uomo non costituisca una minaccia ai suoi piccoli,  ma questo vale per tutti gli animali:  provate ad avvicinarvi ad un cigno!

Ricordo infine che uccide di piu’ la puntura di una vespa o di una zanzara che l’attacco di un lupo.

I have been told several times by my Italian friends how lucky I am living in the nature,  in a fairy tale environment.

But,  as in all fairy tales,  the wolf cannot be missing.

Long live the wolf!  Especially when he is calmly posing for your photo on a spring evening.

We saw this lonely wolf along the Somero-Tammela route,  near road number 2,  on May 16th 2021 at 10.00 p.m.  He is not sitting:  his legs are in a ditch.  Ditches are everywhere – in fields or woodlands – they are necessary to let the water flow.  My husband stayed in the car and I just jumped out for a couple of shots.  Luckily the wolf did not run away,  he just looked at me in all dignity.

The wolf,  like all predators,  is necessary in nature.  The wolf keeps under control the number of deer and roe-deer,  which are already numerous in Finland.  The wolf does not attack man,  unless man poses a threat to his puppies,  but this applies to all animals:  try to get close to a swan!

Finally,  I remind you that the sting of a wasp or a mosquito kills more than the attack of a wolf.

  24. Joining you from Wandering Camera. I agree with you deeply and passionately about the wolf. Unfortunately, where I live, many people see them as a predator that must be eliminated. So sad.
