Christmas in Helsinki.

1 – Helsinki Cathedral,  the heart of town.

2 – Aleksanterinkatu,  the main shopping street.

3 – Katajanokka,  the harbour with cruising ships and the Big Wheel decorated for Christmas.

4 – The whole city is illuminated and decorated.

5 – The city park Esplanadi and one last rose…

Dear readers,  as soon as it is possible to travel again safely,  I would like to invite you to visit Helsinki at Christmas time.  It will suprise you with its refined beauty.

Do not fear low temperatures.  Do not carry long,  furry,  thick and bulky jackets:  many light layers are better than a thick one to keep the cold away,  as air is the best isolation.  Technical sports clothing will be good enough.  Remember that hotels,  restaurants,  shopping centres are warm.  I will anyway recommend long underwear both for ladies and gents.

  2. Hello,

Wonderful tour of Helinski. I wonder are the cruise ships back in business now? The decorations look so pretty. It is important to dress in layers to be warm and comfy. Take care, have a happy day!

  3. Hello Eileen, the cruising ships you see travel between Sweden and Finland. They have never stopped working as they transport cargo as well. But of course very few passengers now. Many more last summer when the infection was reduced. Thanks for your kind visit and comment. Have a nice evening!

    Un caro saluto dall’Italia…
