Midsummer decorations.
A characteristic decoration for Midsummer in Finland consists in some birch branches in a vase/bucket/basket placed outside your door. Of course they do not last for long time: just as the very long daylight which soon will start getting shorter, but they are a sign of summer joy… especially in this hard year, I’d say.

Branches with green leaves are attractive and I love the splash of color next to them.

Those birch branches by the door are really traditional here. One tradition more is midsummer rose, it grows in every old yard, ours opened the first blossoms this morning.
Are you here in Finland now enjoying these amazing summer days?

When I was a child my father always brought a couple of young birches beside our outside stairs. Feeling of Midsummer fiesta it was! I don’t have that tradition any more, maybe I should.

Buona giornata!:-)
