La meravigliosa farfalla Vanessa C-bianco è così chiamata perchè sulla pagina inferiore delle ali, che è nerastra, si distingue chiaramente un segno bianco a forma di lettera “C”. La sua caratteristica più appariscente è comunque il profilo sciancrato delle ali, che la fa assomigliare quasi ad una farfalla tropicale. Anch’essa gode del nettare dei bianchi fiori del nostro melo e ce li impollina. Grazie, cara! (Foto d’archivio)
Il nome scientifico di questa bellezza è: Polygonia c-album; in finnico: Liuskaperhonen. Qualcuno la chiama anche Virgola.
Riuscite a vedere nella foto qui sotto il “C” bianco di cui parlavo? E’ piuttosto evidente…
A white Marking.
The beauty in my shots today is the Polygonia c-album, Comma butterfly, in Finnish: Liuskaperhonen. Its name comes from the unique “C”-shaped white marking you can see on the dark underside of its wings. Its main characteristic, however, is the shape of its wings: angular notches and a brilliant orange colour make it resemble almost a tropical butterfly. (Archived photos).
It is taking nutrition from our apple tree flowers and pollinating them. Thanks, darling!
Can you see in my last shot the white marking in the underwing? Quite remarkable.
