Tra Italia e Finlandia

TKU e’ il codice triletterale che contraddistingue l’aeroporto di Turku,  la seconda citta’ della Finlandia.  Si tratta di un aeroscalo secondario,  al quale operano prevalentemente compagnie Low-Cost,  ma con una lunga storia.

La prima costruzione risale al 1935,  anticipando addirittura Helsinki.  Nel 1955 viene aperto ufficialmente.  Nel 1980 la pista viene allungata:  tuttora misura 2,5km,  servendo da alternato ufficiale a Helsinki.  Nel 1991 viene aperto il terminal merci.  Attualmente Turku serve circa 250mila passeggeri l’anno.

Nelle mie foto vedete l’ingresso con le sale passeggeri e l’area ck-in.  I gates si trovano al livello inferiore.

Due curiosita’:  sopra,  gli emblemi di tutti i comuni della provincia di Turku.  Qui sotto:  un vecchio glorioso aereo Finnair che tanto ha volato negli anni ’60-’80:  il Caravelle.

TKU is the tri-letter code for Turku Airport,  Finland’s second largest city.  It is a secondary airport,  served primarily by low-cost airlines,  but has a long history.

The first construction dates back to 1935,  predating Helsinki.  It officially opened in 1955.  In 1980,  the runway was extended:  it still measures 2.5 km,  serving as an official alternate to Helsinki.  The cargo terminal opened in 1991.  Turku currently serves approximately 250,000 passengers a year.
