Nella splendida cornice del piazzale antistante il Castello di Villafranca di Verona,  ogni anno viene oraganizzata una serata a tema,  la “Festa Pugliese”,  una vera sagra dove si possono degustare e acquistare specialita’ di quella regione,  famosa per l’abbondanza dei suoi prodotti.

Cominciamo la descrizione della festa con gli allestimenti delle luminarie,  proprio quelle tradizionali pugliesi.

I venditori vengono dalla Puglia e presentano nei numerosi stand le loro primizie,  fra le quali spiccano ad esempio:  il pane di Altamura,  fatto con semola rimacinata di grano duro e cotto in forno a legna secondo la tradizione;  taralli semplici o aromatizzati ai semi di finocchio,  peperoncino… e i formaggi,  nonche’ i molti tipi di olive.

Come vedete dalle mie foto,  gli avventori non sono mancati.  I tendoni che ricoprivano gli stand ricordavano la forma dei Trulli.

The Apulian Festival.

In the scenic setting of the square in front of the Castle of Villafranca di Verona,  every year a themed evening is organized,  the “Festa Pugliese” (Apulian Festival),  a real festival where you can taste and buy specialties from that region,  famous for the abundance of its products. 

Let’s start the description of the festival from the light installations,  the traditional ones from Apulia.

The vendors come from Apulia and present their specialties,  among which the following stand out:  Altamura bread,  made with durum wheat semolina and baked in a wood oven according to tradition;  plain taralli or flavoured with fennel seeds,  chilli pepper… and cheeses,  as well as the many types of olives.

As you can see from my photos,  there were plenty of customers.  The stands coverings recalled the shape of the Trulli.

  18. Fantastic experience! We loved visiting all the “beer” fests while living in Germany. We soon discovered it wasn’t all about beer, but about discovering new foods, traditions and making friends.

    Now I’m hungry!
