Pioggia d’oro.

L’albero che vedete nelle foto e’ un Maggiociondolo  (Laburnum anagyroides),   uno scenografico arbusto che fiorisce mostrando questi grappoli di un caldo colore giallo.  Per questo motivo in Finlandia questo albero si chiama comunemente “Kultasade”,  cioe’:  Pioggia d’oro.

Quest’albero e’ diffuso in tutta l’Europa centrale,  poiche’ ama i climi temperati e solitamente fiorisce a maggio.  In Finlandia fiorisce a giugno.  Quello che vedete e’ proprio il nostro,  che abbiamo piantato in posizione soleggiata.

I suoi grappoli gialli ricordano quelli del glicine.  Le foglie sono disposte a tre su un unico picciolo e i semi sono contenuti in baccelli.  Il legno del Maggiociondolo e’ duro e adatto alle sculture o lavorazioni al tornio e alla costruzione di archi.

Golden Rain.

The tree you see in the photos is a Laburnum (Laburnum anagyroides),  a spectacular shrub that flowers showing these clusters of a warm yellow color.  For this reason in Finland,  as well as in other countries,  this tree is commonly called “Kultasade”,  that is:  Golden Rain. 

This tree is widespread throughout central Europe,  because it loves temperate climates and usually blooms in May.  In Finland it flowers in June.  What you see is just ours,  which we planted in a sunny position.

Its yellow bunches resemble those of Wisteria.  The leaves are arranged in threes on a single stalk and the seeds are contained in pods.  The wood of the Laburnum is hard and suitable for sculpture or lathe work and for the construction of bows.
