Buona domenica,  cari lettori!

Oggi vi propongo un ascolto musicale decisamente energizzante,  in questa domenica estiva.

Si tratta del famoso “Can-can” tratto dalla “Danza delle Ore”,  di Amilcare Ponchielli,  che fa parte della sua opera La Gioconda.   Musicata nel 1876 e ambientata a Venezia,  la Gioconda fu un grande successo grazie anche alla sontuosita’ delle scene e dei numerosi balletti,  che ricordano Strauss ma anche la tradizione della Grand opéra francese.

Ho trovato una versione molto fine eseguita dall’orchestra e balletto del Teatro La Fenice.

Today I will share with you a truly energizing piece of classical music,  on this summer Sunday.

This is the famous “Can-can” taken from the “Dance of the Hours”,  by Italian composer Amilcare Ponchielli,  which is part of his opera La Gioconda.

First on stage in 1876 and set in Venice,  the opera La Gioconda was a great success thanks also to the sumptuousness of its scenes and the numerous ballets,  which recall Strauss but also the tradition of the French Grand Opéra.

I found a very fine version performed by the orchestra and ballet of the Teatro La Fenice.
