A primavera quando arrivano gli uccelli dalla migrazione invernale,  per i birdwatchers e’ festa.  Si appostano per vederli e li paparazzano come farebbero i veri fans con le rockstar.  Non solo:  si scambiano informazioni su chi e’ gia’ arrivato e dove,  seguono i loro percorsi e si fanno trovare pronti nei loro luoghi di sosta.

D’altronde,  pensate a quale grande prodigio e’ per i volatili percorrere migliaia di chilometri due volte l’anno e tornare nei medesimi luoghi!

Nel mio post di oggi vi propongo la prima uscita annuale che abbiamo fatto io e Risto la settimana scorsa al golfo di Halikon Lahti,  presso Salo,  rinomato punto di sosta perche’ punto meridionale del Paese,  collegato al mare e fra i primi a sgelarsi.

I primi ad arrivare sono sempre gli uccelli acquatici:  Cigni,  Oche del Canada e Oche della Tundra:  queste ultime poi proseguiranno il viaggio verso l’estremo nord.

C’erano anche altri individui:  Alzavole,  Germani e una coppia di Gru.

Like Rock Stars.

In spring when birds are back from the winter migration it is high time for birdwatchers.  They lurk to see them and paparazzi them as real fans would do with rock stars.  More than that:  they exchange information on who has already arrived and where,  they follow their routes and are ready at their stopping places.

On the other hand,  think what a great miracle it is for birds to travel thousands kilometers twice a year and come back to the same places!

In my post today I will share the first annual outing that Risto and I did last week to the gulf of Halikon Lahti,  near Salo,  a renowned stopover point because it is in the southern part of the country,  connected to the sea and among the first to thaw.

The first to arrive are always the waterfowl:  Swans,  Canada Geese and Tundra Geese:  the latter will then continue their journey towards the far north.

There were also other individuals:  Teals,  Mallards and a pair of Cranes.

Among the smallest,  the Common reed bunting.

In my last shot you can see the paparazzi.  😉

  7. Secondo te, qui nel Veneto, è possibile assistere a qualche stormo in migrazione?
    Anni fa mi capitò di vederne uno – forse te lo avevo già detto – e fu uno spettacolo unico. Purtroppo non ebbi modo di fotografarlo (epoca pre-smartphone).

  8. In realtà quando passano da noi sono molto alti, per cui il fascino si perde un pochino…soprattutto non si sentono gridare. Ma senz’altro nel delta del Po si fermano a rifocillarsi. Puoi cercare magari nel sito della Lipu qualche indicazione o oasi vicino a Padova. Spero che trovi, così vai con Patrizia.

    Es ist so schön Vögel zu beobachten und zu staunen über ihr fabulous life.
    Ich warte auf die Rauchschwalben.
    Einige wurden bereits gesichtet, aber ich hab noch keine gesehen.

  23. It is the opposite here. We live by a little lake and the Canada geese come here by the thousands for the winter season. It’s always wonderful to see them, but then by spring they all leave going back north. 🙂

  46. Wow, these are amazing shots! It’s incredible how these birds find their way back home every year. And likening them to rock stars is so spot-on! They really are the superstars of the bird world.
