In un grigio e nevoso pomeriggio del gennaio 2023 questo bellissimo Sparviero  (Accipiter nisus)  si è posato sulle nostre mangiatoie sperando di predare qualche uccellino.

Mio marito è stato svelto a riprenderlo e io ve lo propongo in varie versioni:

Anche gli Sparvieri dovrebbero migrare via dalla Finlandia in inverno,  ma ce n’è sempre qualcuno che decide di rimanere.  A farne le spese sono i piccoli uccellini,  preda principale di questo rapace,  che in finnico si chiama proprio:  Varpushaukka,  cioè:  il falco dei passeri.

On a gray and snowy afternoon in January 2023 this beautiful Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus)  landed on our feeders hoping to prey on some birds.

My husband was quick to take photos and I propose it to you in various versions.

Sparrowhawks are also supposed to migrate away from Finland in winter,  but always some  decide to stay.  The ones who will pay the consequences are the small birds,  the main food of this bird of prey,  which in Finnish is called,  as well as in English:  Varpushaukka,  the Sparrow-hawk.
