Primi segnali d’autunno.

Settembre segna proprio l’inizio dell’autunno in Finlandia.  In questo mese si accendono i riscaldamenti nelle case perche’ le temperature calano sensibilmente;  l’umidita’ e’ palpabile nell’aria sotto forma di nebbiolina mattutina;  il sole si fa sempre piu’ basso sull’orizzonte e non solo le foglie cadono a profusione…anche le mele!

Comunque il segnale piu’ inequivocabile per me e’ questo:  quando vedi una cosa gialla svolazzare a mezz’aria e non e’ piu’ un bel macaone,  ma solo una foglia…ecco, da li’ capisci tutto!

Early signs of autumn.     In September the real autumn begins in Finland and you can read the signs:  temperatures drop and we turn on heaters in our homes;  there is humidity in the air and misty mornings;  sun is much lower over the horizon and not only leaves drop from trees,  but also…apples!

But the one unmistakable sign of autumn for me is the following:  when I see something yellow twirl in the air and it is not a splendid Tiger Swallowtail anymore but a simple leaf!…
