Rosa, rosae, rosae…

Rosa,  rosae,  rosae…       Whoever has studied a little Latin at school will remember the first declension of nouns… but nowadays I prefer to conjugate roses by photography!

Today’s curiosity:  Latin is still studied in Finnish high schools.

Schools in Finland generally start in mid-August and terminate in May.  They work full-time with free Saturdays and a few scattered weeks’ holidays:  in October,  at Christmas,  in February and at Easter.   Lunchtime is spent in the school canteen.

In Italy schools start at mid-September until the beginning of June.  Full time is not so widespread,  although more and more appreciated, so pupils go to school on Saturdays too.  Holidays are usually at Christmas,  Easter and on a few other festive days.
