A place in the sun.    Two small lizards are sunning themselves on a trunk along the river Tione in Villafranca di Verona.

A viper,  before falling into winter-sleep,  is lingering in the sunshine along the Torro road (Tammela).  On a fine end of September day on the forest edge..

A beautiful Polygonia c-album is trying to get the most warmth available by fully opening  her wings;  in our garden,  on the rhubarb,  last Autumn.

I will link this post to Eileen’s  Saturday’s Critters.  Thanks for hosting!

  1. Hello, I would love to see those lizards, they are cool. Great sighting. The snake is neat, just as long as it stays far away. Pretty butterfly. Great variety of critters and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week!

  2. Such beautiful and interesting photos! It would be great to photograph a viper, but on the other hand, I wouldn’t like to see any. 🙂
The butterfly looked familiar and in fact it’s the one we call “herukkaperhonen”. I think it’s one of the most beautiful butterflies we have in Finland. Your butterfly photos are excellent. I remember you have photos of an Apatura iris too. Wow!
    Have a lovely week! ♥

  3. Yes, my dear, you remember well: I proudly have the Apatura Iris too! It cost me such a long time to get it, as it was so restless! Thanks for your visit and your kind words. Have a lovely week you too!
