Tra Italia e Finlandia

Un pomeriggio di fine gennaio,  lo Sparviero e’ venuto a cacciare nel nostro giardino,  mentre eravamo a casa e vicini alla finestra,  dove ci sono le mangiatoie.  Forse si tratta di una femmina,  dato il colore del piumaggio sul petto.

Solitamente fa fatica a catturare gli uccellini,  perche’ sono molto accorti,  ma quel giorno e’ piombato all’improvviso e in tutta sicurezza si e’ procacciato il pranzo.

Io avevo a portata di mano solo la mia macchina fotografica piccola e ho scattato queste tre foto in fretta e furia,  prima che lo Sparviero si allontanasse con la sua preda.

Non sono di buona qualita’ perche’ scattate attraverso i doppi vetri della finestra,  per cui le ho elaborate in tre modi diversi,  con tre luci diverse.  La preda sembra essere una Cinciallegra.

La Natura funziona cosi’…e comunque in natura si uccide per necessita’…

Smacked dead!

One afternoon in late January,  a Sparrowhawk came hunting in our garden while we were at home,  near the window where the feeders are located.  It may be a female,  given the color of her breast plumage.

It usually has a hard time catching small birds,  because they’re very watchful,  but that day it swooped in unexpectedly and safely got its lunch.

I only had my small camera handy,  and I snapped these three photos quickly before the Sparrowhawk fled with its prey.

These photos aren’t of good quality because they were taken through the double-glazed window,  so I processed them in three different ways,  under three different lights.  The prey appears to be a Great Tit.

Nature works like this…and in any case,  animals  kill out of necessity…
