Un mese nelle mie foto.

Anche maggio e’ stato bellissimo qui nel sud Finlandia, con temperature piacevoli, in continua risalita verso i picchi estivi e con scarsissime piogge. Le giornate soleggiate e splendenti ci hanno fatto molto piacere, insieme al fatto che tutta la natura si e’ svegliata e nel giro di poche settimane gli alberi hanno messo le foglie, i prati sono rinverditi, gli uccelli hanno dato luogo a concerti dall’alba al tramonto.

Il verde primaverile e’ diverso dal verde estivo: adesso e’ tutto tenerezza, e’ un verde pallido, chiarissimo, quasi infantile, se si potesse usare questa similitudine.

CURIOSITA’: le foglioline appena accennate, quando iniziano a spuntare qui si chiamano: hiirenkorvat, cioe’: orecchie di topo.

Adesso e’ un bel momento per lavorare in giardino: si preparano le fioriere con le piantine stagionali, si rastrellano le ultime scorie invernali, si potano gli alberi che ne abbisognano, si ripuliscono le aree dove si hanno fiori penrenni… Chi come noi ha anche l’orto, ha certamente seminato lattuga, spinaci…e piantato patate, carote…

Qui la natura sa benissimo che deve sbrigarsi a lasciare i propri semi per la stagione prossima, poiche’ l’estate e’ breve, percio’ tutto cresce velocemente. A vista d’occhio si nota che il giardino e il bosco mutano giornalmente. Ad esempio, a me fa sempre impressione vedere con quale slancio le bulbacee fanno spuntare dalla terra i loro steli e quanto fortemente crescono.

In Italia il tempo e’ stato variabile, con temporali e piogge, ma anche con giornate eccezionalmente calde, per il periodo.

Le notizie internazionali del mese sono anche in Finlandia quelle che conoscete: il mondo in balia di anziani autocrati ossessionati dall’idea di passare alla storia per le loro imprese epiche e che non pensano affatto al bene dei propri cittadini, che anzi mandano al fronte ad uccidere migliaia di civili.

La Finlandia ha aperto una miniera per l’estrazione del litio vicino a Rauma. Notizia positiva per l’approvvigionamento delle scorte europee di metalli preziosi.

Un’ultima menzione per i tre sub finlandesi che hanno recuperato i corpi dei 5 italiani deceduti durante un’immersione alle Maldive: sono partiti per la loro impresa immediatamente, senza alcun dubbio e alla fine non si sono nemmeno fatti pagare. Applausi! Il presidente italiano Mattarella gli ha già conferito una onorificenza, del tutto meritata.

La Finlandia proprio ieri sera ha vinto il Campionato Mondiale di hockey su ghiaccio. Congratulazioni! 😃

Domani 2 giugno in Italia è la Festa della Repubblica. Auguro a tutti gli italiani che la nostra continui ad essere una “Repubblica democratica fondata sul lavoro”.

A Month in my Photos.

May was beautiful too, here in southern Finland, with pleasant temperatures steadily rising toward summer peaks and very little rain. The bright, sunny days were a delight, along with the fact that all of nature awoke and in just a few weeks the trees put on leaves, the meadows were green again, and the birds performed concerts from dawn to dusk.

Spring green is different from summer green: now it’s all tenderness, a pale green, very light, almost childlike, if one could use such a comparison.

FUN FACT: The tiny leaves, when they first begin to sprout, here are called hiirenkorvat, that is “mouse ears”.

Now is a great time to work in the garden: we prepare the flowerbeds with seasonal plants, we rake away the last of the winter’s debris, we prune the trees that need it, we clean up the areas with perennial flowers… Those of us who also have a vegetable garden have certainly sown lettuce, spinach… and planted potatoes, carrots…

Here, nature knows deeply well that it must hurry to leave its seeds for next season, because summer is short, so everything grows quickly. Visibly, the garden and the forest change daily. For example, I’m always amazed by the impetus with which the bulbs shoot their stems out of the ground and how vigorously they grow.

In Italy the weather has been variable, with thunderstorms and rain, but also with exceptionally hot days for the season, especially now, at the end of month.

The international news of the month in Finland is also what you know: the world at the mercy of elderly autocrats obsessed with the idea of going down in history for their epic deeds and who do not think at all about the welfare of their own citizens, whom they instead send to the front to kill thousands of civilians.

One last mention for the three Finnish divers who recovered the bodies of the 5 Italians who died during a dive in the Maldives: they set out for their mission immediately, without any hesitation, and in the end, they didn’t even ask to get paid. Applause! The Italian president Mattarella has already awarded them an honor, which is fully deserved.

Just yesterday evening Finland won the ice hockey World Championship. Congrats! 😃
