Tra Italia e Finlandia

Buona domenica,  cari amici!

Oggi vi propongo un brano musicale classico ma molto divertente e soprattutto eseguito con gusto.

Si tratta del “Københavns Jernbane Damp Gallop”,  cioe’ il Galop della Ferrovia a Vapore di Copenhagen,  una composizione veloce (Galop)  dedicata ai treni a vapore e al loro incedere,  musicata nel 1847 dal compositore danese Hans Christian Lumbye.  Questo allegro pezzo fu scritto in occasione dell’apertura della ferrovia Copenhagen-Roskilde.

Visto che il giorno 19 marzo in Italia era la Festa del Papa’,  dedico questo post a tutti i papa’,  con un affettuoso pensiero al mio,  che era appassionato di musica classica e lirica.

Today I am sharing a piece of classical music,  yet very fun and,  above all,  tastefully performed.

It is the “Københavns Jernbane Damp Gallop,” or the “Galop of the Copenhagen Steam Railway,” a fast-paced composition (Galop) dedicated to steam trains and their progress,  set to music in 1847 by Danish composer Hans Christian Lumbye.   This cheerful piece was written to mark the opening of the Copenhagen-Roskilde railway.

Do not be discouraged if the start is slow…keep listening.
