Tra Italia e Finlandia

Un mese nelle mie foto.

Novembre e’ trascorso piuttosto in fretta per me e ho fatto un sacco di cose.  Non mi sembra vero:  di solito questo mese e’ lentissimo e noiosissimo,  ma quest’anno mi sono buttata in veri progetti/interessi e sono stata occupatissima,  col risultato che il tempo e’ volato.

Ovviamente anche qui siamo gia’ in pieno clima natalizio,  come penso anche nei vostri Paesi,  o voi che mi leggete,  cari amici di blog.  Ho detto tante volte che a me l’atmosfera natalizia piace moltissimo:  la trovo gioiosa e piacevole,  soprattutto se posso condividerla con i miei affetti.  Ho detto anche tante volte che di contro non amo i regali e che regalare il proprio tempo e il proprio sostegno e’ la gioia piu’ grande per chi riceve;  quindi se andate a trovare amici,  parenti,  specie se anziani,  non lesinate il vostro tempo!

Parlando del tempo meteorologico invece,  devo dire che novembre ci ha graziati,  nel senso che le prime gelate e le prime leggere nevicate sono arrivate solo a meta’ mese – quindi con due settimane di ritardo – e anche adesso a fine mese il ghiaccio e’ presente solo nelle ore notturne.  In Lapponia,  la regione piu’ a nord della Scandinavia,  la neve e’ arrivata abbastanza abbondante e speriamo che continui e che permetta alla natura di riposare:  lassu’ tutto e’ programmato per neve e freddo e deve essere cosi’.

In Italia abbiamo avuto piogge fredde ma anche qualche giornata soleggiata.

Ora le giornate sono cortissime e fino al 21 dicembre continueranno ancora ad accorciarsi.  Naturalmente la vita non si ferma:  scuole,  uffici,  sport,  shopping…tutto procede,  anche se l’inverno con la sua poca luce puo’ far venir voglia di andare in letargo.

Fra le notizie del mese:  il pittore finlandese Pekka Halonen (1865-1933),   esponente della pittura naturalistica con influenze impressioniste e giapponesi,  e’ in mostra a Parigi,  esattamente al Petit Palais,  fino al prossimo 22 febbraio.

Ieri,  in occasione della Giornata Internazionale per l’eliminazione della violenza contro le donne,  voluta dall’ONU,  la Finlandia ha illuminato vari siti e monumenti di colore arancione,  considerato colore della speranza nel futuro e di una vita senza violenze;  ovviamente si e’ parlato molto di questo tema che va a braccetto con la schiavizzazione delle donne,  col fenomeno delle spose-bambine,  con il traffico di esseri umani,  con le molestie.  E’ importante che se ne parli e che si incoraggino le donne a denunciare.  Le Giornate Internazionali tematiche servono proprio a questo.

Un’altra iniziativa di cui si e’ parlato molto la scorsa settimana e’ istruire la popolazione mondiale all’uso corretto degli antibiotici.  Nei Paesi piu’ sviluppati,  dove ci si possono permettere gli antibiotici e dove si possono procurare facilmente,  si e’ visto che l’uso improprio ha provocato l’aumentata resistenza dei batteri a questi medicinali.  Si stima che nel 2050 l’antibiotico-resistenza sara’ fra le prime cause di morte in Italia.   Certamente un problema da non sottovalutare.

A Month in my Photos.

November went by pretty quickly for me,  and I got a lot done.  It seems unreal:  usually,  this month is incredibly slow and boring,  but this year I threw myself into real projects/interests and was incredibly busy,  with the result that time flew by.

Of course,  we’re already in the Christmas spirit here too,  as I think you are in your countries,  dear blog friends.  I’ve said many times that I really like the Christmas atmosphere:  I find it joyful and pleasant,  especially if I can share it with those I love.  I’ve also said many times that,  on the other hand,  I don’t like gifts and that giving our time and support is the greatest joy for our loved ones;  so if you go to visit friends or relatives,  especially elderly ones,  don’t begrudge your time!

Speaking of the weather,  however,  I must say that November has been kind to us,  in the sense that the first frosts and light snowfalls arrived only in the middle of the month—two weeks late—and even now,  at the end of the month,  the ice is present only at night.

In Lapland,  the northernmost region of Scandinavia,  the snow has arrived quite abundantly,  and we hope it continues and allows nature to rest:  up there,  everything is programmed for snow and cold,  and it should be that way.

In Italy we’ve had cold rains but also some sunny days.

The days are now very short,  and they’ll continue to get shorter until December 21st.  Of course,  life doesn’t stop:  schools,  offices,  sports,  shopping…everything goes on,  even if winter,  with its dim light,  can make you want to hibernate.

Among this month’s news:  Finnish painter Pekka Halonen (1865-1933),  an exponent of naturalistic painting with Impressionist and Japanese influences,  is on display in Paris,  at the Petit Palais,  until February 22nd.

Yesterday,  on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women,  established by the UN,  Finland illuminated various sites and monuments in orange,  considered the color of hope for the future and a life free from violence.  Obviously,  there has been much discussion about this issue,  which goes hand in hand with the enslavement of women,  the phenomenon of child brides,  human trafficking,  and harassment.  It’s important to talk about it and encourage women to report it.  Thematic International Days serve precisely this purpose.

Another initiative that received much discussion last week is educating the world’s population on the proper use of antibiotics.  In more developed countries,  where antibiotics can be afforded and readily available,  improper use has led to increased bacterial resistance to these drugs.  It is estimated that by 2050 antibiotic resistance will be among the leading causes of death in Italy.  This is certainly a problem that should not be underestimated.
