Buona domenica a tutti!

Oggi vi propongo ancora un brano ispirato alle sonorita’ della musica folk irlandese,  ma stavolta il brano e’ di un compositore e paroliere finlandese:  Juice Leskinen.

La canzone si intitola:  “En Oo Käyny Irlannissa”,  cioe’:  “Non ho mai visitato l’Irlanda” e dice che pur non avendola egli stesso mai visitata,  gli sembra di conoscerla,  poiche’ dall’Irlanda sono arrivate tante cose piacevoli,  come il whisky,  la buona musica e le allegre compagnie.

L’ultima parte del testo e’ significatica e veramente attuale:  “Una piccola nazione non può sopravvivere se non con cuore e anima”.

Today I will share with you another song inspired by the style of Irish folk music,  but this time the song is by a Finnish composer and lyricist:  Juice Leskinen.

The song is called:  “En Oo Käyny Irlannissa”,  that is:  “I have never visited Ireland” and the singer says that even though he has never visited it himself,  he feels like he knows it,  because so many pleasant things have come from Ireland,  such as whiskey,  good music and cheerful friends.

The last part of the text is significant and truly suitable for our times now:  “A small nation cannot survive without heart and soul”.

  1. Fun song! Hadn’t heard it before, or of Juice Leskinen – thanks! We traveled through Glendalough in 2015, but a quick look through our photos, I don’t have one of the tower, just the gravestones. We ventured up the slopes for the cliff walk, sooo windy!!! The pub we found a few hours later offered warm food and tasty refreshments, 🙂 We loved Ireland. I would like to travel back there again.

  24. I love your photos of the Glendalough Round Tower. When I lived in Dublin, Wicklow National Park was the place where I spent a lot of time, so it holds a lot of precious memories. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
