Tra Italia e Finlandia

Un mese nelle mie foto.

Giugno in Finlandia e’ stato piuttosto piovoso e talvolta le precipitazioni sono state davvero abbondanti,  specie in alcune zone.  Le temperature si sono tenute nelle medie stagionali,  con qyalche punta al di sotto.  Per esempio adesso a fine mese abbiamo avuto tre giorni di pioggia praticamente ininterrotta a 14 gradi C.  Abbiamo avuto anche belle giornate di sole,  comunque,  di quelle da trascorrere all’aria aperta da mane a sera,  in giardino a prendersi cura dei fiori,  o in bicicletta,  a prendersi cura del proprio fisico.  Il giorno 15 giugno abbiamo toccato la temperatura massima di 27 gradi C.

Come potete immaginare,  gli orti e i giardini non sono molto contenti di questa lunga primavera che non riesce a diventare estate.  Negli anni “normali” infatti ai primi di luglio cominciavamo a mangiare le prime fragole,  (l’anno scorso in cui giugno fu parecchio caldo abbiamo cominciato a fine giugno),  quest’anno invece devono ancora iniziare a maturare.

CURIOSITA’:   Abbiamo sentito che in Lapponia hanno sciato;  non su neve fresca,  ma su neve che era stata conservata,  salvata e riposizionata a formare una pista.  Le temperature lo hanno consentito.  Abbiamo anche sentito che sono stati trovati i primi Porcinelli rossi,  da qualche parte nella Finlandia dell’est.

In Italia giugno ha portato il caldo eccessivo.  E’ arrivato all’improvviso,  in quanto maggio era stato piovoso.  Ha sorpreso tutti anche perche’ nel giro di pochi giorni le temperature hanno raggiunto e superato i 30gradi C.  Il giorno 14 giugno a Verona c’erano 35 gradi C con una opprimente afa.

Adesso in Finlandia tutto e’ rigoglio:  giardini,  campi e boschi sono verdissimi.  Gli alberi hanno cosi’ tante foglie che le case ne sono seminascoste.  Sara’ che abbiamo anche questo tempo “irlandese”,  in cui non manca l’irrigazione.  Nei campi il foraggio e’ altissimo e pronto per lo sfalcio.  Gli uccellini se ne stanno per conto loro,  si muovono veloci e furtivi,  poiche’ hanno la prole da alimentare nei nidi.  Quelli che hanno iniziato prima e hanno gia’ tirato su la prima nidiata,  possono anche pensare di fare una seconda nidiata,  come sta pensando secondo me la Balia nera che si e’ rimessa a cantare nel nostro giardino.  Anche il Cuculo sta cantando…chissa’ se e’ ancora single o se sta cercando anche lui compagnia per una seconda nidiata!

Le giornate sono lunghissime. Adesso a mezzanotte e’ ancora chiaro.  Il sole tramonta ma resta la luce magica delle “notti senza notte”,  come le chiamano qui.

Dopo Midsummer,  che e’ il weekend del 24 giugno,  inizia l’alta stagione delle vacanze per i popoli del nord Europa,  che le fanno a luglio,  non ad agosto.  Molti si prendono addirittura tre settimane di ferie dal lavoro a partire da Midsummer e le trascorrono di preferenza nelle seconde case in riva ai laghi,  a contatto con la natura insieme agli amici di sempre,  oppure viaggiano all’estero.  In realta’ molti vanno all’estero ad ottobre/novembre,  quando qui torna la brutta stagione,  mentre in Grecia,  Spagna,  Turchia,  sud Italia… le temperature sono accettabili e il caldo torrido e’ un ricordo.

Sarebbe molto bello potersi rilassare e godere IN PACE la bella stagione senza quelle notizie orribili che arrivano ogni giorno dal mondo.  Ovviamente anche qui le notizie dal Medio Oriente hanno i primi posti sui giornali,  ma qui di certo non si dimentica la guerra in Ucraina,  dove Putin continua a bombardare obiettivi civili:  ospedali,  scuole,  asili,  treni…  A fronte delle tante voci che si levano in favore di Gaza,  dei poveri ucraini non si parla quasi piu’.  Le due situazioni si equivalgono:  non tutti i Palestinesi sono terroristi e non tutti gli Ucraini sono nazisti.

Altre notizie spicciole trovate sul HS:  L’ organizzazione internazionale Reportare Without Borders (RSF),  ha stilato la classifica annuale del giornalismo indipendente (e quindi piu’ credibile).  Al primo posto quest’anno si trova la Norvegia,  al secondo posto la brava repubblica d’Estonia.  La Finlandia e’ al quinto posto e l’Italia…al quarantanovesimo.

I satelliti artificiali in orbita attorno alla Terra sono circa 11.400.

In Finlandia sta iniziando una settimana di festeggiamenti dedicati a vari argomenti,  fra i quali il Pride,  dove hanno sfilato 100mila persone.  La notizia e’ che la Svezia ha depenalizzato l’omosessualita’ nel lontano 1944.

La Finlandia e’ abitata da ben 44 specie di zanzare.  Il motivo risiede nel fatto che oltre ai boschi vi sono moltissime paludi,  che non si sono ancora mai asciugate dall’ultima glaciazione,  specie in Lapponia.  Non abbiamo pero’ le simpatiche zanzare “tigre”,  che tanto danno fastidio in Italia.

Un altro numero sorprendente,  anche per la sottoscritta:  le lingue straniere parlate in Finlandia sono 160.  Si intendono lingue-madri parlate da stranieri.

I finlandesi sono grandi bevitori di caffe’:  nel 2023 ne hanno consumato 9kg pro capite.

Secondo gli ultimi report,  l’aspettativa di vita in Finlandia si e’ allungata negli ultimi anni fino a 79,6 anni per i maschi e 84,8 per le femmine.  Nel 1994 l’aspettativa di vita era rispettivamente di 72,8 e 80,1.

A Month in my Photos.

June in Finland was quite rainy and sometimes precipitations were really heavy,  especially in some areas.  Temperatures were in the seasonal averages,  with a few peaks below.  For example,  now at the end of the month we had three days of practically uninterrupted rain at 14 degrees C.  We also had beautiful sunny days,  however,  the kind of days to be spent outdoors from morning to evening,  in the garden taking care of the flowers,  or on a bike,  taking care of your body.  On June 15th we reached a maximum temperature of 27 degrees C.

As you can guess,  the vegetable gardens and gardens are not very happy with this long spring that fails to turn into summer.  In “normal” years,  in fact,  we began to eat the first strawberries at the beginning of July (last year,  when June was quite hot,  we started at the end of June),  this year they have yet to begin to ripen.

FUN FACT:   We heard that in Lapland they skied;  not on new snow,  but on snow that had been preserved,  saved and repositioned to form a slope.  The temperatures allowed it.  We also heard that the first Leccinum aurantiacum mushrooms were found,  somewhere in eastern Finland.

In Italy June brought excessive heat.  It arrived suddenly,  as May had been rainy.  It surprised everyone also because in a few days the temperatures reached and exceeded 30 degrees C.  On June 14th in Verona it was 35 degrees C with an oppressive heat.

Now in Finland everything is lush:  gardens,  fields and woods are very green.  The trees have so many leaves that the houses are half hidden by them.  Maybe it’s because we also have this “Irish” weather,  in which there is no lack of irrigation.  In the fields the hay is very tall and ready to be cut.  The little birds keep to themselves,  they move quickly and furtively,  because they have young ones to feed in their nests.  Those who started earlier and have already raised the first brood,  can also think about having a second brood,  as I think the Black Flycatcher is thinking,  as it started singing again in our garden.  The Cuckoo is also singing… who knows if he is still single or if he too is looking for company for a second brood!

Daylight lasts now many hours.  Now at midnight it is still bright.  The sun sets but the magical light of the “nights without nights”,  as they call them here,  remains.

After Midsummer,  which is the weekend of June 24,  the high holiday season begins for the people of northern Europe,  who take their holidays in July,  not August.  Many take three weeks off work starting from Midsummer and spend them preferably in second homes along lakesides,  immersed in nature together with their old friends,  or they travel abroad.  Actually,  many go abroad in October/November,  when the bad weather returns here,  while in Greece,  Spain,  Turkey,  southern Italy… the temperatures are acceptable and the scorching heat is just a memory.

It would be really nice to be able to relax and enjoy IN PEACE the beautiful season without the horrible news that comes every day from the world.  Of course,  here too the news from the Middle East are at the top in newspapers,  but here they certainly don’t forget the war in Ukraine,  where Putin continues to bomb civilian targets:  hospitals,  schools,  kindergartens,  trains…  I don’t understand why so many voices are raised in favor of Gaza,  while the poor Ukrainians are no longer spoken of.  The two situations are equivalent:  not all Palestinians are terrorists and not all Ukranians are nazis.
