L’orologio di Aix.

Nella splendida cittadina francese di Aix-en-Provence,  proprio adiacente al municipio,  cioe’ l’Hotel de Ville,  nella piazzetta che porta questo nome,  si trova la torre che ospita questo antico orologio astronomico.

L’orologio risale al 1661 e contiene al suo interno quattro stature lignee che rappresentano le quattro stagioni.  Ad ogni cambio di stagione,  una statua diversa e’ visibile nella nicchia.   La graziosa balconata in ferro battuto aggiunge leggerezza alla costruzione.  E’ una vista imperdibile di Aix-en-Provence.

Ed ecco una foto della graziosa piazza davanti al municipio,  come l’abbiamo vista.  Vivace,  frequentatissima dai turisti ma anche dai residenti e ricca di attrattive di ristorazione e commerciali.  Non mancano i prodotti a base di lavanda.

Infine,  due immagini dell’Hotel de Ville,   il municipio di Aix,  un bel palazzo in stile neoclassico,   risalente al 1652,   designato monument historique dal governo francese nel 1995.

The Clocktower at Aix. 

In the beautiful French town of Aix-en-Provence,  right next to the town hall,  that is the Hotel de Ville,  in the little square that bears this name,  you find the tower that houses this splendid astronomical clock.

The clock dates back to 1661 and contains four wooden statues representing the four seasons.  At each change of season,  a different statue is visible in the niche.  The graceful wrought iron balcony adds lightness to the construction.  It is an unmissable sight in Aix-en-Provence.

And then comes a photo of the pretty square in front of the town hall,  as we saw it.  Lively,  very popular with tourists but also with residents and full of restaurants and shops.  There is no shortage of lavender-based products,  for sure.

Finally,  two images of the Hotel de Ville,  the town hall of Aix,  a beautiful neoclassical building dating from 1652,  designated a monument historique by the French government in 1995.
