Quadri in musica.

Buona domenica,  cari lettori del mio blog!

Oggi continuiamo a parlare di quadri,  di pittura,  di arte e di installazioni artistiche,  ascoltandoci un piccolo pezzo dell’immensa composizione:  “Quadri di un’esposizione”  del musicista russo Modest Musorgskij. 

Composta nel 1874,  questa suite si inserisce nella definizione di “musica descrittiva” e si articola in quindici pezzi principali,  (i quindici quadri osservati) e in altri pezzi secondari che costituiscono il cammino fra un quadro e l’altro.  Io vi propongo di ascoltare appunto l’inizio della visita all’esposizione,  cioe’ la prima “Promenade”.   Non vi sara’ del tutto nuova.

Today we will continue to talk about paintings,  pictures,  art and artistic installations,  by listening to a small piece of the immense composition:  “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Russian musician Modest Musorgsky. 

Composed in 1874,  this suite fits into the definition of “descriptive music” and is divided into fifteen main pieces (the fifteen paintings observed) and other secondary pieces consisting of the paths between one painting and another.   I propose listening to the very beginning of the visit to the exhibition,  that is the first “Promenade”.   It will not be entirely new to you.
