Tra Italia e Finlandia

In questi ultimi anni,  ci siamo resi conto che nei pressi di casa nostra circola una Lince,  o forse piu’ di una,  dato che ogni tanto troviamo qualche foto nella fototrappola.  Purtroppo come tutti i predatori si muove per lo piu’ di notte e le foto notturne sono meno belle,  ma io vi propongo le ultime che ho trovato:

Personalmente sono contenta che una Lince circoli nel nostro territorio,  poiche’ un predatore in salute e in attivita’ e’ necessario per tenere sotto controllo il numero di altri animali,  come vogliono le leggi della Natura.

Forse non tutti sanno che la preda preferita delle Linci sono le Lepri,  ma naturalmente possono predare anche giovani Cervi o Caprioli,  (oppure individui malati),  roditori e altri piccoli animali in caso di assoluta necessita’ e persino Volpi.

Attorno a casa nostra,  come in Finlandia meridionale in particolare,  Cervi e Caprioli si stanno riproducendo moltissimo poiche’ riescono a sopravvivere in questo clima,  ma costituiscono quasi un problema:  la Lince e’ la soluzione migliore.

Per finire,  le impronte che la sopracitata gattona ha lasciato nella neve fresca:  una e’ ampiamente rielaborata per farla risaltare e una e’ paragonata alla dimensione della mia scarpa.

A Big Cat in the Snow.

In recent years,  we have realized that a Lynx is roaming around our house,  or maybe more than one,  since every now and then we find photos in the camera trap.  Unfortunately, as well as all predators,  it moves mostly at night and night photos are less beautiful,  but I am sharing the latest ones I found.

Personally,  I am happy that a Lynx is roaming around our territory,  because a healthy and active predator is necessary to keep the number of other animals under control,  as the laws of Nature require.

Perhaps not everyone knows that the Lynx’s favorite prey are Hares,  but of course it can also prey on young Deer or Roe Deer (or sick individuals) as well,  rodents and other small animals in case of absolute necessity and even Foxes.

Around our house,  as in southern Finland in particular,  Deer and Roe Deer are quickly multiplying because they manage to survive in this climate,  but they are almost a problem:  the Lynx is the best solution.

Finally,  the tracks that the aforementioned ‘big cat’ left in the new snow:  one is extensively edited to make it stand out and one is compared to the size of a shoe of mine.
