L’interno della chiesa di Halikko e’ stato restaurato profondamente nel corso del 1900,  riportando alla luce anche dettagli che erano stati coperti o inglobati nella struttura.

La chiesa fu edificata grazie ad una donazione della facoltosa e potente famiglia Armfelt,  che abitava in zona e i cui discendenti sono tutti sepolti in un’area riservata del camposanto.

L’organo e’ di fabbricazione locale:  della Kangasala Urkutehdas di Kangasala e risale alla meta’ del 1800.

Il soppalco nel quale si trova anche l’organo e’ dipinto con figure di profeti biblici.

Gli arredi della chiesa comprendono un omaggio ai naviganti,  poiche’ Halikko e Salo si trovano su un braccio di mare;  un crocifisso ligneo molto elegante e questo meraviglioso altorilievo dell’Ultima Cena,  di manifattura medievale.

Infine,  un’ultima perla:  questo altorilievo che forse rappresenta la visita dei Magi,  ma che purtroppo e’ molto danneggiato,  infatti i doni e parti delle braccia sono mancanti.

Halikko Church  #2.

The interior of Halikko Church was extensively restored during the 1900s,  bringing to light even details that had been covered or incorporated into the structure.

The church was originally built thanks to a donation from the wealthy and powerful Armfelt family,  who lived in the area and whose descendants are all buried in a reserved area of ​​the cemetery.

The organ is of local manufacture:  by Kangasala Urkutehdas of Kangasala and dates back to the mid 1800s.

The mezzanine,  which also houses the organ,  is painted with figures of biblical prophets.

The church furnishings include a tribute to sailors,  as Halikko and Salo are located on a sea inlet;  a very elegant wooden crucifix and this wonderful high relief of the Last Supper,  of medieval manufacture.

Finally,  one last gem:  this high relief which perhaps represents the visit of the Three Kings,  but which unfortunately is very damaged,  in fact the gifts and parts of the arms are missing.
