Tromsø e’ una pittoresca citta’ della Norvegia che si trova circa 350km a nord del Circolo Polare Artico. Il suo territorio consta di una parte continentale e di alcune isole collegate tra loro da lunghi ponti che si lanciano nei fiordi. L’effetto che ne risulta e’ quello di un paesaggio pittoresco e mozzafiato.

Ho scattato parte delle mie foto dalla funivia Fjellheisen, che partendo dal livello del mare porta alla stazione di Storsteinen, situata a 420 metri di altitudine, dove si trova un ristorante e la partenza di vari itinerari per passeggiate e trekking.

Nelle mie foto sopra avete visto il ponte principale, il Tromsø Bridge, che e’ necessario percorrere per arrivare in centro. La citta’, che conta 76.000 abitanti circa, si presenta pulita ed in perfetto ordine, con case di legno e giardini curatissimi. Il colpo d’occhio e’ meraviglioso, soprattutto perche’ arricchito dalla presenza dei fiordi, le montagne perennemente innevate che penetrano l’azzurro del mare.

Questa zona del nord Norvegia ha un clima atlantico seppur mitigato dalla Corrente del Golfo: inverni rigidi con nevicate ed estati fresche ed umide. Purtroppo anche nelle mie foto e’ palpabile la foschia che impedisce a tratti la visuale sulle cime dei monti.

Il centro citta’ e’ ricco di vita e di possibilita’ per i turisti: musei, giardino botanico, chiese, ma soprattutto ristoranti e caffe’ per chi ha voglia di assaggiare qualcosa di nuovo e passeggiate a non finire.

CURIOSITA’: La chiesa che vedete in quest’ultima foto e’ la chiesa cattolica piu’ a nord del mondo: la Chiesa di Nostra Signora. Realizzata in legno in stile Neogotico, e’ stata visitata dal papa Giovanni Paolo II nel 1989.

Tromsø

Tromsø is a picturesque city in Norway located about 350km north of the Arctic Circle. Its territory consists of a continental part and some islands connected to each other by long bridges across the fjords. The resulting effect is a picturesque and breathtaking landscape.

I took part of my photos from the Fjellheisen cable car. Starting from the sea level it carries you to the Storsteinen station, located at 420 meters high, where you find a mountain ledge, a restaurant and the departure of various itineraries for walks and trekking.

In my first photos above you have seen the main bridge, the Tromsø Bridge, which is necessary to cross to get to the center. The city, which has about 76,000 inhabitants, is clean and in perfect order, with wooden houses and well-kept gardens. The general overlook wonderful, above all because it is enriched by the presence of the fjords, the perennially snow-capped mountains that penetrate the blue of the sea.

This area of northern Norway has an Atlantic climate although milder than it may sound due to the Gulf stream: cold winters with snow and cool, humid summers. Unfortunately, even in my photos you see the haze, which at times prevents the view of the mountain tops.

The city center is full of life and possibilities for tourists: museums, botanical gardens, churches, but above all restaurants and cafes for those who want to taste something new and endless walks.

A FUN FACT: the church you see in this last photo is the most northern Catholic church in the world: the Church of Our Lady. Made of wood, its style is Neo-Gothic. It was visited by Pope John Paul II in 1989.
