Camouflage is a trick by a lot of moths! A famous observation of a moth population in England many years ago was when the soot in the air turned the tree trunks very dark, and in a few generations, the surviving moths were all dark, whereas before they had been light like the un-sooty tree bark. This is an example of natural selection.
