The Royal Corps of Signals.

Last summer we had the pleasure to listen to a real bagpipes concert in the centre of Bardolino. It was an amazing surprise and of course I took a few shots to share it. Through a brief research I found out that it was no less than The Royal Corps of Signals, the British Army corps specialized in installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment and information systems. This year they celebrate their centenary.
The band is called: Pipes and Drums. They had a concert tour in Italy last September and played in various locations. Bagpipes are extraordinary and so peculiar instruments: always nice to hear. The performers were a great view too, in their unique uniforms. Of course I took a short video.

Great closeups of the bagpipers. We like going to the Scottish Highland Games when we are in the US for the summer. Not this year though.

I love the sound of the pipes. We didn’t have it this year because of Covid, but each summer there’s a military band concert held on Parliament Hill that includes bagpipes, often including a band or two from a different country.

We are well used to bagpipes even though we live in England. There is nothing quite like the sound of bagpipes to stir the soul. Of even an Englishman.

Buona domenica!

You were so fortunate to see this band! Their uniforms pleased me very much, as well as this peculiar traditional music. I am sorry for commenting this late, but have been very exhausted due to my renovation project. Wishing a lovely new week.

I once met a guy playing Irish (!) bagpipe. Sounds bit like the Scottish bagpipe but it looked different. I really enjoyed listening him to play. Not my usual music by no means but I really liked it.

Bagpipes are a mystery to me. I don’t know how you change notes or if there is fingering, but I enjoy their distinctive sound. Thanks for the video clip. Very cool!
