Tra Italia e Finlandia

Un mese nelle mie foto:

Luglio è stato molto altalenante in Finlandia:  due settimane di caldo afoso fino a 33 gradi e due di temperature in crollo fino a 18 gradi!  Praticamente ci e’ sembrato di stare un po’ al mare e un po’ in montagna,  pur rimanendo sempre nello stesso posto! 🙂

La stazione meteo piu’ vecchia di tutta la Finlandia,  che si trova a Kaisaniemi (Helsinki) ed e’ stata istituita 175 anni fa,  il giorno 28 luglio 2019 ha rilevato la propria temperatura record di sempre:  33,2 gradi C.  Il record precedente era di 31,6 gradi e risaliva al 1945.  (Fonte:  Helsingin Sanomat).

Anche in Italia abbiamo avuto un (benvenuto) ridimensionamento delle temperature e purtroppo qualche fenomeno estremo in termini di tempeste di vento e grandine. 

L’avvenimento di maggior rilievo a livello politico è che la Finlandia guiderà il semestre di presidenza del consiglio UE appena iniziato,  mettendo in agenda provvedimenti sul clima.

A month in my photos: 

July has been extremely fluctuating in Finland:  two weeks in a very hot weather (as far as 33 degrees C – 91 F) and two much fresher weeks (18 degrees C – 64F);   it felt like being alternatively at the seaside and in the mountains without moving from the same place! 🙂

The oldest meteo station in Finland,  located in Kaisaniemi (Helsinki),  which is 175 years old,  published the record temperature ever registered on July 28th 2019:  33.2 degrees C – 91.76 F.  The former record was measured in 1945 and was 31.6 degrees C – 88.88 F.   (Source:  Helsingin Sanomat).

In Italy temperatures dropped as well,  at the end of July.  We had also a few strong storms with damages in a few places.

In the international political outline,  he most relevant event of this month is:  Finland started its semester as the EU Council presidency.   In the top agenda:  climate issues.

Now,  dear friends,  I’ll share with you a few info:

In Venice,  until 28.08,  a special architectural series of workshops are going on under the name of:  Disruptive Processes.  (Sala del Camino, Campo S. Cosmo 621, Giudecca)

A new novel by Finnish author Miika Nousiainen has been translated into Italian.  The title is:  Juurihoito (roughly:  root treatment);  it is a half-serious and half-humorous book about identity and…toothache.  It seems that it has not been translated itno English yet.

An Italian artist,  Enrico Mazzone,  is working on an ambitious project:  a grand frieze mixing the Divine Comedy and the Kalevala (the Finnish epic book). 

Finally:  in Murano an interesting art exibition about Finnish sculptor Tapio Wirkkala is open until next 29.09.   Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) is famous not only for wood sculpting:  he was a master in glass blowing as well.   His production for the Iittala group well represents the nordic essential style.
