IMG_9492XXBuona seconda domenica d’Avvento,  cari lettori!

Anche quest’anno nelle domeniche d’Avvento vi dedicherò solo musica natalizia.

Quest’anno però mi concentro su canzoni scritte ed interpretate da cantanti famosi (vip);  cioè:  non cover di canzoni natalizie conosciute,  ma proprio scritte appositamente per la ricorrenza da musicisti che di solito si occupano di altri generi musicali.

Iniziamo col duo americano The Carpenters,  attivo negli anni ’60 e ’70,  composto dai fratelli  Karen e Richard Carpenter.  Nel 1966 Richard,  il compositore del duo,  scrisse questo dolce brano che la voce carezzevole di Karen interpreta a meraviglia.

Si intitola:  “Merry Christmas,  Darling”.   (Testo qui sotto).

Happy Second Advent Sunday,  dear readers!

This year again on Advent Sundays I will dedicate only Christmas music to you.

This year,  however,  I am focusing on songs written and performed by famous singers (VIPs); in other words:  not covers of well-known Christmas songs,  but songs actually written specifically for the occasion by musicians who usually work in other musical genres.

Let’s start with American duo The Carpenters,  consisting of siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter,  active in the 60s and 70s.  In 1966 Richard,  the composer of the duo,  wrote this sweet song which Karen’s caressing voice interprets wonderfully.

It’s called:  “Merry Christmas,  Darling.” (Lyrics below).

  4. In effetti quest’anno le domeniche di Avvento sono iniziate con il 30 novembre. Mi ero confusa anch’io. Dipende dal fatto che Natale viene di giovedì. Ma non è poi così importante dopotutto 🙂
