Tra Italia e Finlandia

La larga spiaggia di Prassonissi si colloca all’estrema punta sud dell’isola greca di Rodi ed e’ famosa perche’ a ridosso di essa si incontrano il Mar Mediterraneo e il Mar Egeo.

Grazie a cio’,  i suoi venti costanti e sufficientemente forti la rendono luogo frequentatissimo da surfisti e kite-surfisti.

Vi propongo alcune foto scattate sul limtare del tramonto.

In queste ultime si dovrebbe apprezzare l’incontro dei due mari.  In estate quando il livello delle acque e’ piu’ basso,  Prassonissi diventa una penisola,  mentre in inverno si trasforma in piccolo isolotto.

Leggo in rete pero’ che ultimamente Prassonissi e’ stata parecchio rovinata dall’overtourism:  si e’ permesso ad auto e camper di sostarvi indiscriminatamente,  per cui la morbida sabbia si e’ praticamente trasformata in cemento.  Peccato che noi umani non sappiamo difendere l’ambiente naturale che ci e’ stato dato…

Prasonisi at sunset.

The wide beach of Prasonisi is located at the southernmost tip of the Greek island of Rhodes and is famous because the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea meet right next to it.

Thanks to this,  its constant and sufficiently strong winds make it a very popular place for surfers and kite-surfers.  I will propose some photos taken on the verge of sunset.

In the latter ones you should appreciate the meeting of the two seas.  In summer when the water level is lower,  Prasonisi becomes a peninsula,  while in winter it turns into a small island.

However,  I read online that lately Prasonisi has been quite ruined by overtourism:  cars and campers have been allowed to park there indiscriminately,  so the soft sand has practically turned into concrete.  Too bad that we humans do not know how to defend the natural environment that was given to us…
