Nel paesino di Alvettula,  vicino ad Hauho,  non lontano da Hämeenlinna,  i coniugi Kostinen hanno fabbricato per se stessi e per chi vuole fermarsi a vederlo,  un giardino di ispirazione orientale – nella fattispecie cinese.

Si chiama proprio “Seitsemän tähden kaikkien ihmisten puutarha“:  il giardino delle sette stelle di tutti,  nel senso che e’ sempre aperto,  non vi sono recinzioni ne’ restrizioni e chiunque voglia visitarlo,  percorrere i vialetti o sedersi all’ombra e’ benvenuto.

Oltrepassata la Porta della luna,  severamente custodita da due leoni,  ci si trova in un ambiente magnifico:  circondato da alti alberi di vari tipi,  il giardino rivela sentieri,  scorci,  angoli ombreggiati e un laghetto perfetto per le tinche che vi nuotano.

Noi lo abbiamo visitato in estate,  ma non so immaginare quanto sara’ affascinante nei colori autunnali.

The Seven Stars Garden  #1.

In the village of Alvettula,  near Hauho,  not far from Hämeenlinna,  the Kostinens have created for themselves and for anyone who wants to stop and see it,  an oriental-inspired garden  (actually China-inspired). 

It is just called “Seitsemän tähden kaikkien ihmisten puutarha”:  the garden of the seven stars for everyone,  meaning that it is always open,  there are no fences or restrictions and anyone who wants to visit it,  walk the paths or sit in the shade,  is welcome.

Once you have passed through the Moon Gate,  sternly guarded by two lions,  you find yourself in a magnificent setting:  surrounded by tall trees of various types,  the garden reveals paths,  views,  shaded corners and a pond perfect for the Tenches that swim in it.

We visited in the summer,  but I can’t imagine how fascinating it will be in the warm autumn colours.

  26. Such an interesting space, and not so very far away! Thanks for sharing this garden.

    I’m curious as to what your camera viewfinder and attentive eye would find if you were a visitor to MY garden!! While not open all the time, we do prefer by appointment and truly everything can be much better appreciated when flowers and trees are in bloom. But you are correct, sometimes the best season of viewing are the moments in autumn.

    Let me know if you’d be interested in coming here to Lohja, there is much to see.
