Tra Italia e Finlandia

Buona domenica a tutti!

Oggi,  cari lettori,  ci ascoltiamo un tango argentino,  ma uno proprio bello,  del quale ho trovato in rete perfino una versione per orchestra.  Questo brano cosi’ coinvolgente fu scritto nel 1935 dagli argentini Carlos Gardel e Alfredo Le Pera e parla di scommesse ai cavalli e di belle donne,  ma oggi il testo non ci interessa:  ascoltiamo solo la melodia,  bella e nostalgica.

Voglio infatti dedicare questo tango,  uno dei pochi che conosco,  a Papa Francesco,  il quale proveniva proprio da quella terra “dalla fine del mondo”,  come ebbe a dire.  Chissa’ quante volte lo avra’ ascoltato nelle strade di Buenos Aires…

Tre curiosita’ a proposito dei funerali del papa,  la prima:  egli e’ sepolto in Roma,  nella Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore,  che per puro caso si trova di fronte all’ambasciata argentina.

La seconda:  il presidente finlandese Alexander Stubb si trovava seduto tra Trump e Macron.  Il motivo e’ il seguente:  il protocollo prevede l’assegnazione dei posti in ordine alfabetico a seconda del Paese di rappresentanza,  ma essendo la lingua ufficiale della diplomazia il francese,  i posti a sedere sono stati assegnati nel seguente ordine:  États-Unis,  Finlande,  France.

La terza:  e’ stato rinvenuto uno scritto postumo del papa,  nel quale egli parla della vita di coppia e delle relazioni amorose e da’ questo consiglio:  “Amatevi come in un tango”.

Today,  dear readers,  we are listening to an Argentine tango,  a really beautiful one,  of which I even found an orchestral version online.  This very engaging piece was written in 1935 by Argentines Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Le Pera and talks about betting on horses and beautiful women,  but today we are not interested in the lyrics:  we are just listening to the melody,  beautiful and nostalgic.

I want to dedicate this tango,  one of the few I know,  to Pope Francis,  who came from that land “from the end of the world”,  as he said.  Who knows how many times he must have listened to it in the streets of Buenos Aires…

Three fun facts about the Pope’s funeral,  the first:  he is buried in Rome,  in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore,  which by pure chance is located in front of the Argentine embassy.

The second:  Finnish President Alexander Stubb was sitting between Trump and Macron.  The reason is the following:  the protocol provides for the assignment of seats in alphabetical order according to the country represented,  but since the official language of diplomacy is French,  the seats were assigned in the following order:  États-Unis,  Finlande,  France.

The third:  a posthumous writing has been found,  in which the Pope talks about life in a couple and love relationships and gives the following advice:  “Love each other as in a tango.”
