Tra Italia e Finlandia

Un mese nelle mie foto.

Giugno e’ stato per lo piu’ bello splendido in Finlandia,  con caldo estivo nella prima parte,  un breve intervallo temporalesco a meta’ mese e di nuovo giorni splendidi verso la fine.  Il weekend di Midsummer in particolare,  quello del solstizio,  ha portato temperature piacevoli attorno ai 23 gradi e soleggiamento costante.  E’ stato un piacevole weekend.  Mentre adesso a fine mese abbiamo lambito i 30 gradi e durante la notte i 20 gradi,  che e’ parecchio.

A Midsummer i finlandesi hanno fatto anche quest’anno cio’ che fanno sempre:  hanno chiuso tutte le attivita’ e si sono spostati nelle loro seconde case in riva ai laghi,  nelle campagne o nei boschi,  dove hanno respirato la tranquillita’.  I giorni di Midsummer si trascorrono fcendo delle appetitose grigliate,  giri in barca,  pescando,  facendo sport,  leggendo,  curando giardini e orti che nella casa di citta’ non ci sono,  per finire la giornata poi con una sauna rivitalizzante e un tuffo nel lago.  Ovviamente c’e’ anche chi si da’ al bere e ogni anno qualcuno annega a causa dell’ebbrezza:  quest’anno ci sono state quattro vittime.

In Italia giugno e’ stato ancora una volta altalenante con giorni mediamente belli,  poi caldi e afosi,  poi temporaleschi e piovosi,  almeno nell’alta Italia.  Nel sud invece il caldo rovente ha provocato una siccita’ intensa.

La natura a giugno e’ in pieno rigoglio e gli uccelli hanno i loro nuovi nati da accudire.  Adesso i canti si sono smorzati:  c’e’ solo qualche coppia ottimista che cerca di mettere al mondo una seconda nidiata a deliziarci con i concerti notturni.

Anche altri animali hanno i loro cuccioli:  quelli che capita di avvistare piu’ spesso sono i cerbiatti.

In questo momento dell’anno tutto sta crescendo velocemente:  i piccoli degli animali ma anche i vegetali.  L’erba nei giardini va rasata due volte la settimana e negli orti crescono lattuga,  spinaci…e tutte le altre verdure che si sono seminate.  La causa di questa crescita veloce e’ la luce presente anche di notte,  che compensa il calore non eccessivo dell’aria.

A dire il vero c’e’ anche qui un chiaro segnale di cambiamento climatico:  le fragole che dovrebbero maturare a luglio,  ultimamente maturano prima;  ad esempio adesso le stiamo gia’ mangiando.  Lo stesso vale per le rose nel mio giardino veronese:  a meta’ aprile erano gia’ sbocciate.

Le recenti elezioni europee hanno leggermente cambiato il numero e la provenienza dei rappresentanti finlandesi al Parlamento Europeo:  ora sono 15.  La loro provenienza e’:  4 del PPE;  3 del raggruppamento di sinistra GUE/NGL;  2 dei Socialisti e Democratici S&D;  2 del centro – Renew Europe;  2 dei Verdi EFA;  1  dei Conservatori ECR;  1 del partito di lingua svedese che andra’ con Renew Europe.  Il partito che esce sconfitto e’ quello dei Perussuomalaiset,  cioe’ la Lega finlandese.  Qui non c’e stato alcun “generalone” pieno di contraddizioni a fare da specchietto per le allodole.  Meno male!

Altre notizie spicciole:  come gia’ detto,  la Finlandia sta erigendo impianti eolici in molte localita’ e a questo punto la capacita’ di questi impianti e’ di oltre 7000 megawatt.

Il Paese del nord Europa con minor debito in relazione all’introito annuale e’ proprio la Finlandia.

In Finlandia sono state censite circa una cinquantina di specie diverse di zanzare,  ma per fortuna non sono ancora arrivate le tigre,  che sono invece comuni gia’ in 13 Paesi del continenete europeo.

L’inquinamento prodotto dal traffico navale nel mondo attualmente e’ pari al 3%.

L’osso che nel corpo umano e’ piu’ fragile e piu’ soggetto a rottura e’ la clavicola.

In Europa la percentuale di pet riciclato presente negli oggetti di plastica di nuova produzione e’ di circa l’8%.  Abbiamo ancora strada da fare…

A Month in my Photos.

June was mostly beautiful and splendid in Finland,  with summer heat in the first part,  a short interval of thunderstorms in the middle of the month and again splendid days towards the end.  The Midsummer weekend in particular,  the solstice time,  brought pleasant temperatures around 23 degrees and constant sunshine.  It was a pleasant weekend. While now at the end of the month we have reached 30 degrees and during the night 20 degrees,  which is a lot.

This year too,  at Midsummer the Finns did what they always do:  they closed all their businesses and moved to their second homes by the lakes,  in the countryside or in the woodlands,  where they breathed in the tranquility.  Midsummer days are spent having appetizing barbecues,  boat trips,  fishing,  playing sports,  reading,  taking care of gardens and vegetable gardens that do not exist in the city house to go finish the day with a revitalizing sauna and a dive in the lake.  Obviously there are also people who drink and every year someone drowns due to drunkenness:  this year there were four victims.

In Italy June was once again fluctuating with days that were on average beautiful,  then hot and muggy,  then stormy and rainy,  at least in northern Italy.  In the south,  however,  the scorching heat has caused an intense drought.

In June,  nature is in full bloom and the birds have their newborns to look after.   Now their singing has died down:  there are only a few optimistic couples trying to bring a second brood into the world to delight us with their nightly concerts. 

Other animals also have their cubs:  the ones you spot most often are fawns.

At this time of year everything is growing quickly:  baby animals but also plants.  The grass in the gardens needs to be mowed twice a week and lettuce,  spinach… and all the other vegetables that have been sown grow in the veg-yards.  The cause of this fast growth is the light,  present even at night,  which compensates for the not excessive heat of the air. 

To tell the truth,  there is a clear sign of climate change also here in Finland:  the strawberries that should ripen in July have lately ripen earlier;  now we are already eating them.  The same goes for the roses in my garden in Verona:  by mid-April they had already bloomed.

The recent European elections have slightly changed the number and composition of Finnish representatives in the European Parliament:  they are now 15.  Their origin is: 4 from the EPP;  3 of the left-wing GUE/NGL group;  2 of the Socialists and Democrats S&D;  2 from center party – Renew Europe;  2 from the Greens EFA;  1 of the ECR Conservatories;  1 of the Swedish-speaking party who will go with Renew Europe.  The party that is clearly defeated is Perussuomalaiset,  that is the Finnish League,  the ultra-conservative.

Mixed brief news:  as already mentioned,  Finland is building wind farms in many locations and at the moment the capacity of these facilities is over 7000 megawatts.

The Northern European country with the lowest debt in relation to annual income is Finland.

About fifty different species of mosquitoes have been recorded in Finland,  but fortunately the tiger mosquitoes have not yet arrived,  which are already common in 13 countries on the European continent.

The pollution produced by maritime traffic in the world is currently 3%.

The bone in the human body that is most fragile and most subject to breakage is the clavicle.

In Europe the percentage of recycled PET present in newly produced plastic objects is around 8%.  We still have a way to go…
