Crocus autunnali.

Ogni ottobre,  passando davanti ad un certo giardino sulla solita pista ciclabile che frequento appena fuori Verona,  noto questi bellissimi Crocus.  Io non ne so molto di fiori,  ma associo i crocus alla primavera e mi stupisco sempre di vederli fioriti in autunno.

Questi erano particolarmente appariscenti:  gialli e rigogliosi,  così mi sono fermata per fotografarli.

Non ho nemmeno tentato di eliminare col Photoshop la rete metallica che li circonda,  perchè mi ha ricordato le donne che vengono imprigionate in retaggi culturali o religiosi in molte parti del mondo.  Questo post è dedicato a loro.

Autumn Crocuses.

Every October,  as I pass by a certain garden along the usual cycle path I frequent not far from Verona,  I notice these beautiful Crocuses.  I don’t know much about flowers,  but associate crocuses with spring and I’m always amazed to see them in bloom in autumn.

These were particularly eye-catching:  yellow and lush,  so I stopped for a shot.

I didn’t even try to Photoshop out the chicken wire around them,  because they reminded me of the women who are imprisoned in cultural or religious legacies in many parts of the world.    This post is dedicated to them.
