Anche Mantova,  città che si trova ad una trentina di chilometri da Verona,  in regione Lombardia,  è circondata ed attraversata dall’acqua.

Attorno alle sue mura si trovano infatti tre laghi,  solo in parte di origine naturale,  che aggiungono bellezza al profilo della città specialmente con una certa luce:  al tramonto o in giornate nebbiose. 

Nel suo cuore scorre un piccolo ruscello,  chiamato semplicemente il Rio,  purtroppo in parte interrato,  che offre scorci particolari e persino romantici.

Mantova è città ricca di storia,  se ne trovano testimonianze dovunque:  ad esempio nella sua architettura,  o nelle iscrizioni che ricordano avvenimenti o segnano momenti decisivi nella vita della città.

Also Mantua,  a city located about thirty kilometers from Verona,  in the north of Italy in the Lombardy region,  is surrounded by water.

Around its walls there are three lakes,  only partly of natural origin,  which add beauty to the city’s skyline especially in certain lights:  at sunset or on foggy days.

In its heart a small stream flows,  simply called the Rio,  unfortunately partly covered,  which offers unique and even romantic views.

Mantua is rich in history,  evidence of which can be found everywhere:  for example in its architecture,  or in the inscriptions that recall events or mark decisive moments in the life of the city.  (The above dedication recalls a visit by Giuseppe Garibaldi to the Nuvolari family in 1867).

  13. I had already heard of this city, but I googled it to better locate it. Somehow your images remind me a bit of the canals in Venice. What beautiful facades and overhanging bay windows. Thank you for showing all the beauty of this otherwise unknown city to me.
