Tra Italia e Finlandia

Rapallo è una elegante cittadina della Liguria,  situata proprio sul golfo del Tigullio a pochi km dalla penisola sulla quale sorge Portofino.

Rapallo conta circa 30mila abitanti ed è conosciuta come cittadina turistica,  grazie alle sue molte attrattive:  il clima mite,  il bel lungomare,  le spiagge strette ma attrezzate,  gli svettanti palazzi Liberty,  le caratteristiche viuzze del centro,  il porticciolo e la garanzia della tradizione culinaria ligure.

Come sempre,  io vi offro un’infarinatura della cittadina di Rapallo,  poichè il mio è un blog fotografico e non mi dilungherò in informazioni storiche o pratiche.

Una vacanza a Rapallo offre anche varie possibilità di escursioni nei dintorni:  alla modaiola Portofino,  alla nobile Santa Margherita Ligure,  alle camminate nell’entroterra collinare della Liguria alla scoperta di oliveti,  agrumeti,  vigneti,  ma anche santuari come Montallegro e altri luoghi d’interesse.

Come testimoniano i  suoi bei palazzi,  Rapallo vanta un passato di frequentazioni illustri:  dagli inizi del XX secolo infatti iniziò lo sviluppo turistico con la costruzione di alberghi e ville di lusso;  fra i molti personaggi che soggiornarono qui ricordo solo il compositore finlandese Jean Sibelius.

Infine,  Rapallo fu sede di importanti trattati di pace al termine della Grande Guerra.

Rapallo is an elegant town in Liguria,  located right on the Gulf of Tigullio,  a few km from the peninsula on which Portofino stands.  Rapallo has about 30,000 inhabitants and is known as a tourist town,  thanks to its many attractions:  the mild climate,  the beautiful seafront,  the narrow but well equipped beaches,  the soaring Art Nouveau buildings,  the characteristic narrow streets of the centre,  the small port and the guarantee of traditional Ligurian cuisine.

As always,  I offer you just a few info of the town of Rapallo,  since mine is a photoblog and I won’t go into historical or practical information.

A holiday in Rapallo also offers various possibilities for excursions in the surrounding area:  to the trendy Portofino,  to the noble Santa Margherita Ligure,  to walks in the hilly hinterland of Liguria to discover olive groves,  citrus groves,  vineyards,  but also sanctuaries such as Montallegro and other places of interest.

As evidenced by its beautiful buildings,  Rapallo boasts a past of illustrious visitors:  since when tourism development began from the beginning of the 20th century with the construction of hotels and luxury villas;  among the many characters who stayed here I only remember the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

Finally,  Rapallo was the site of important peace treaties at the end of the World War I.
